The atmosphere is family-friendly and very welcoming. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the dishes are meticulously prepared by chef Ivan, who is incredibly creative and knowledgeable. The owner, Barbara, is always kind and helpful; she's an extraordinary hostess.

I needed to eat the real deal in Bologna away from the tourist center and this place serves! Food is incredible in a lovely historic institution with the kindest manager/owner - she speaks English! The bread is so soft it’s a pillow, the ragu is from heaven. Excellent wine selection. Only locals here from what I saw.

When appearances can be deceiving: overcome your doubts and come in. Beyond the old-fashioned style lies substance, flavor, and tradition (a truly well-made ragù!), a seasonal menu, and a wine list that's anything but ordinary (you'd be hard-pressed to find Piffer's Vulcanite in Bologna on the list...).

09/06/2026: We ordered four San Sisto risottos and three desserts: everything was delicious! Special thanks to the waiter, who was very kind and friendly. Quick service, a smile always present, and a true "Big Apple" atmosphere. We'll be back!
08/06/2026: The perfect place to enjoy traditional Bolognese dishes without the frills. The handmade first courses are excellent, and the meat-based second courses are delicious. Highly recommended!

01/05/2026: A historic restaurant (founded in the 1950s) offering the finest Bolognese dishes (the boiled meat corner—overseen by a gentleman who expertly prepares portions according to customer requests—is a pure cultural heritage that we are sadly losing). The restaurant is very large and spread across several rooms. The food is truly excellent and of great quality; I enjoyed everything I ordered. The service is excellent (the timing between dishes was excellent). Another strong point is the staff: we were served by Selene, who was very professional and kind… A word of advice: don't leave your table without trying the zuppa inglese, the best zuppa inglese you can find in Bologna. May 1, 2026: Update… We've been back and can confirm how delicious this place is (excellent service: we were served by a very friendly waiter; food: exquisite). I noticed that, as soon as the weather gets warmer, they set up a few tables under the portico. This time I couldn't resist: on my way out I bought a large glass bowl of zuppa inglese!…
