Osteria San Francesco In Altomonte

Our visit to Osteria San Francesco on June 8th, 2025, was a wonderful experience. Francesco welcomed us warmly and offered us seats on the terrace. I had the impression he was a little surprised that we wanted to eat there with 10 people. He immediately called his brother Massimo, who prepared the kitchen. Several other helpers also arrived to assist Massimo with the cooking. The Osteria is somewhat hidden away on a small, steeply rising road. The dining rooms aren't very large, but there's also a grotto, a room carved directly into the mountainside. Francesco and Massimo are very friendly and they made our evening truly enjoyable. The food, prepared by Massimo, was excellent. It's safe to say that the Osteria team knows how to cook. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely return.

We were in Calabria for 24 hours, yet we ate at Osteria San Francesco twice. A friend recommended this restaurant to us, and I have to say it was one of the most beautiful and authentic experiences I'll ever remember in this region. The restaurant, run by two brothers, is small but very welcoming. The food is amazing, and Francesco is a truly friendly person. What I also really appreciated was the atmosphere in this restaurant: there are only a few seats, and the people at the various tables chat as if they've known each other forever. Special thanks go to the owner, Francesco, a delightful and helpful person, who entertained us with warmth and professionalism while we waited for our dishes. The quality of the fish is excellent, from the appetizers to the main courses: everything is fresh and cooked with great care. The meat menu is also truly worth it, with refined dishes and authentic flavors. Don't forget the extensive wine list, offering a wide selection to perfectly complement each dish.
