Osteria La vigna del Mare In Matera

We ate yesterday, Sunday, at this Osteria, located in the Sassis of Matera, on the tourist route. We booked early for lunch and asked please for a table with a view of the Sassis. We arrived at the scheduled time and they met the requirements regarding the location of the table and the time of the reservation. We were 5 adults, we ordered 2 portions of “Bread Polpettes” and “Fried Calamari” as starters to share between the 5 of us. Then we ate “Orechiettes with tomato sauce with mushrooms and typical Matera sausage”, “Orechiettes with cime di Rape with dried peppers and anchovies”, “Orechiettes in tomato and basil sauce”; “Formo pasta.” Everything was good, although the food could be classified as average, since the polpettes lacked a little more flavor; The frying was very good and we were also pleased that it was only squid; The pastas were good, although the Orechiettes de cime di monkfish had a lot of leaves instead of cime and you couldn't taste the anchovies, the other pastas were nothing out of the ordinary, neither bad nor splendid. The bill to pay was €160.00 with only 2 beers and 2 bottles of water. There were no desserts. In conclusion it is a regular Osteria and I don't know if I would return. This is not the first time we have had lunch in Matera and I have eaten in places with better food.

Excellent and very charming place

Las pizzas y todos los platos eran muy deliciosos y frescos. El personal habla inglés. Servicio rápido. El precio no era caro, comida fresca.

The best pizza I’ve ever had!! Staff were super friendly and the views are lovely! Highly recommended!!

This osteria deserves a higher score. The tiramisu was delicious, as was the cappuccino and lasagna and pasta. Nice place and nice people.

Great food, tasty. Friendly staff. I took the bread meatballs with sauce and they are about the same as my grandmother makes them... Personally a little harsh, but that's probably subjective. My partner was satisfied with the Orecchiette with turnip greens. The only thing to review is the price. The "poor man's meatballs" (as my grandmother calls them) at €18 are an exaggeration. For 4 meatballs then...
