Osteria La Speranza In Cividale del friuli

Let me start by saying that we try a different place in Friuli every week, but this time it was Alla Speranza, which I had included in this group of restaurants. The welcome was average, and the staff were kind enough to reserve a table. The location is beautiful, with three different dining rooms, two of which were even more beautiful than the other. The dishes, including those offered off-menu, were very well prepared, and the quality was noteworthy, except for the first course—tortelloni or similar fish-filled dishes with a mussel stew. They weren't thrilling, not because of the sauce, which was superb, but because of the colorful pasta, which tasted like nothing. Perhaps a lasagna or something else would be better. The wine from local producers was really good. On a negative note, the service seemed subpar at times; you couldn't pour other wine into the same glasses, especially in places where another type of wine had been tasted. The glasses had to be changed at all costs, and the placemats weren't exactly attractive; a standard tablecloth with stain protectors would have been a good choice in a place like this. This rating is based on our personal experience compared to other reviewed restaurants. All things considered, we'd be happy to return. The owner was very kind.

Location, staff and top raw materials

We visited Trattoria La Speranza in Cividale del Friuli, and I honestly don't understand some of the negative reviews I've read. The welcome was warm from the start, the staff were friendly and always available to chat or offer advice on dishes, and the atmosphere was simple and familiar—not "newspaper-like," which made us feel at ease. The fish was fresh, flavorful, and well-cooked. Nothing overdone, just the right amount of cooking, and portions were more than reasonable. We especially enjoyed the first courses, which were truly delicious, and the fact that the flavor of the fish was the star. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, service times were more than reasonable. The prices? Fair for what you get, considering the quality of the ingredients. In short, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

Quando entro in un ristorante mi aspetto in minimo di accoglienza non frettolosa, ma questo può essere superato dalla qualità dei prodotti più che buona anche se con 3 € di coperto mi sarei aspettato tovaglioli di stoffa, ma il tema è un altro. Al momento dell'ordine mi e stato consegnato il menù e abbiamo fatto le nostre scelte. Nei minuti successivi la signora proponeva ai tavoli circostanti, nei fuori menù anche i carpacci di branzino e i crudi almeno il primo lo avrei gradito. Al momento del conto ho fatto presente alla signora la questione che si è giustificata con la distrazione del momento, affermando che avrebbe recuperato la prossima volta che mi sarei li recato. L'opportunità l'ha avuta non ci sarà una prossima volta. Però mi viene un pensiero non vorrei che i fuori menù fossero solo per i clienti abituali!!! Un vecchio politico diceva che a pensare male si fa peccato però spesso ci si azzecca.

We stumbled upon it by chance. Among the best fish dishes I've had in recent years. The food is cooked with great balance and skill. They're excellent. The service is also on par with the food. Definitely worth a try. P.S. Generous portions and below-average prices for the quality of the ingredients. In Liguria, you'll forget about a meal like this, or you'll pay 80 euros per person.

Very good trattoria. Unlike most other restaurants in the area, this one mainly serves excellent fish and seafood.
