Our visit was unfortunately rather average, and we wouldn't return.
We tried the house specialty – a kind of potato pizza. For €15, however, we expected significantly more. Ultimately, the dish consisted mainly of fried potatoes. The schnitzel with fries was also nothing special and seemed like standard deep-fried fare. The gnocchi with cheese and cream sauce and mushrooms tasted good, but the mushrooms were chopped very finely and got lost in the sauce.
The polenta was unfortunately burnt, but to our credit, we weren't charged for it after complaining.
We found the allergen information particularly disappointing. We had specifically asked before ordering and still weren't given the correct information. Luckily, the server was attentive when serving and pointed out the peanuts in the dish.
The menu was also quite confusing. Only parts of it were available in German or English. The German-speaking server simply showed us to our table and then handed us over to a colleague, which made communication somewhat difficult.
Additionally, the grilled dishes were only listed at the counter, without any prices.
Overall, the visit was okay, but neither the food nor the organization impressed us.

We booked at the last minute because we were passing by on our bikes.
Ortona was very welcoming and the food was very good.
The smell of grilled meat was delicious. But the choice was either to call a taxi or continue our journey by bike.
We'll stop by again for the meat.

Fantastic food and a homey atmosphere. Don't be put off by the roadside location. The food is delicious. The Frico is delicious if you like cheese. Plus a plate of cold cuts and the famous Fagagna cheese, a heir to the tradition of dairy cooperatives in the Friuli region. Prices are reasonable for such delicacies.

What I appreciate when I'm in Italy is the food, the atmosphere, and the ambiance while sampling the local cuisine. And what's more, this place guarantees it. The hosts and waitresses are smiling, though busy, but always have a joke and a laugh at the end. That's what I appreciate here, because you can't encounter such hospitality everywhere. Of course, we can't forget the culinary delights – we started with a plate of cheese (Fagagna, a cheese from the Udine area – delicious) and ham. Then carbonara with delicious bacon and Frico – a local delicacy for which this place is famous!
If I had the opportunity, I would have gone the very next day, but... Alpe Adria awaits its finale in Grado. Maybe see you soon, Hosts.

First time at the mixed grill, excellent. The fries were good, and the cured meats and cheeses were unsurpassed. I recommend making a reservation. A final compliment to the entire staff.

The osteria offers good, home-style cooking at fair prices. We had frico porcino and gnocchi bolognese (all homemade). Both tasted excellent; the mixed salad was fresh. We were very satisfied. A truly recommendable osteria on the outskirts of Gemona!
