Osteria da Nicola In Chioggia

First time, we took Nicola's advice, and I must say it was a journey through fantastic flavours

Specializing in fish, an excellent restaurant but be careful because the owner decides the price on the spot according to his own feelings.

A fantastic restaurant…we ate at several restaurants during our stay in Chioggia and the surrounding area, but this one tops them all. The freshest fish, amazing appetizers, a menu read aloud by the owner, and they serve what's been freshly delivered, not what's been sitting in the freezer (the owner even has a handwritten list of how much of each type of fish he has left)…yes, trust me, it tastes amazing, and the prices are more than fair for the quality. And to all those complaining about a missing menu or prices: go to McDonald's or somewhere with colorful pictures and prices on the menu; then those who actually want a good meal will find it easier to get a table. And deducting points for authenticity shows a lack of understanding of the Italian way of life.

Good food, but an unfriendly owner. As a previous reviewer already mentioned, they apparently don't want tourists. The fact that the restaurant is popular with locals suggests otherwise. There's no menu; the owner rattles off the dishes at the table in Italian, making no effort to be understood. That's a shame, as is the fact that while the restaurant is located by the canal, there's no outdoor seating area. Otherwise, they do offer some other dishes worth trying, such as pasta with (fatty) tuna belly.

We had dinner at Nicola's this evening. The seafood was excellent, recommended by Nicola, a kind and very friendly person. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was fast. I highly recommend it.

Excellent, very fresh fish, it's a shame there's no menu describing the dishes.
