Osteria da Marino is one of the best places to eat in Trieste, we could say, if it weren't for the fact that I only went to six restaurants, but anyway, it was my favorite. The service was spectacular; they found me a comfortable table despite the relatively small size of the place and the fact that I was alone, which is always a challenge for good restaurants. I ordered a goulash or ragù (whatever it's called) that was amazing, 8.5/10. I ordered a glass of wine that would complement the food, and it did. And best of all: they were playing great music! From Radiohead to Arctic Monkeys, including Bowie and Jack White! Music is so important in these public spaces; in that respect, a 10 out of 10. Autumn 2025.

Osteria da Marino absolutely disarmed me. When you walk in, you see a humble, technically limited space, simple to the point where you don’t expect much. And that’s exactly why the impact is so strong: from a place like this, you do NOT expect food of this level. Their menu is short but brilliant. Every dish is executed with an incredibly gentle, precise and confident hand. Seasoning is minimal, yet so perfectly judged that the flavours remain clean, pure and beautifully balanced. This kind of cooking comes only from someone who truly knows what they’re doing, and who trusts the quality of their ingredients. Gentle seasoning reveals everything, the hand, the skill, the truth. This place is a true gem for gourmets, for those who eat with their heart and appreciate nuance. For me, this was genuine food for the soul. A modest space, a short menu, and unexpectedly outstanding cooking. As a hospitality professional, they genuinely made me stop and think about every bite. Thank you!

A quaint restaurant with a retro feel. The menu features typical Central European cuisine. The goulash and street-cooked strudel are excellent, paired with a good house wine. Highly recommended.

The food is excellent and the price is reasonable, considering the quality and preparation of the strictly traditional dishes. The house wine leaves much to be desired; it's best to order a bottle to accompany the Friulian delicacies. The interior is decidedly welcoming, and rugby fans are pleasantly surprised by the themed decor (there's even a legendary Rovigo Sanson jersey). The welcome and service are excellent. The bar and outside area are extremely chaotic, so it's best to book ahead and secure one of the few seats inside.

Little restaurant by the size, but big by the quality of the food (and portions): highly recommended: the stinco di maiale!! Every dish was good. Excellent goulash. Warm welcome and fast service.

I happened to pass by Osteria di Marino after seeing some pork shanks being taken away. I thought, "Let's try it, I really want it." The guy who served us was very kind, and when I told him I wanted pork shank, he replied, "Excellent choice! Ours is the best!" I thought, "It's just self-promotion, but he was right." It might not be the best, but it's the best I've ever eaten. Accompanied by an excellent draft beer and a place with a unique atmosphere that makes me say... I'll be back... and, of course, I recommend it.

Great little restaurant right in the centre. Friendly staff , very attentive! Local food , the stinco di maiale is delicious. The local soup ,Jota , as well highly recommended!

Nice and cosy restaurant in the Trieste downtown. Not so many options to choose from the menu, but everything we tried was great. Plenty of wine offered.

Frico and spallatta were spectacular!!!! as was the service!

We had dinner at this restaurant during a visit to the city. The restaurant is located in the historic center of Trieste in the pedestrian area. The restaurant is informal, simple, yet welcoming, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is fairly quick, and the staff is very professional, friendly, and helpful. The menu is varied and features typical local dishes. The dishes are excellent and carefully selected, and the wine cellar is excellent. The young team managing the service is very competent, and the prices are average and consistent with the menu. Highly recommended, and kudos to the entire staff. Reservations are recommended.
