30/07/2024: Lovely place and wonderful staff. I've been there at least 5 times, for work reasons. A couple of times a year I go to the province of Ascoli Piceno to take part in training courses. It also happens that coming from Florence, passing through Assisi, Foligno and Civitanova Marche, etc... you often run into some accident or traffic diversions due to work in progress or work never done, even following the earthquake that occurred in the Amatrice area, reached through numerous other deviations which force sudden and continuous changes of route.
The last time I had this experience, together with colleagues and collaborators, we found ourselves forced, first to postpone our table reservation for half an hour by half an hour and then to have to ask the favor of letting us find something ready to take away late in the evening, given that from 9pm, the time we had initially booked, we found ourselves in front of the restaurant which was around 11pm.
The staff at the Locanda del Medioevo were immediately understanding and helpful in delaying our booking, furthermore, when we met "alone with dinner" and called to ask if we could order something to take away, thinking of few available solutions in this mode. The "something" turned into a real order complete with a menu displayed by telephone, through a fun and effective triangulation of calls, between my car, the one in which 3 other colleagues were traveling and the restaurant; in a few moments we booked 3 pizzas and 3 stews with potatoes, in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the central Apennines.
Once we arrived at the restaurant, convinced that we would eat in the car or in the hotel, the staff of the Locanda del Medioevo, employees and owner, all did their utmost to make the experience pleasant and refreshing for us, extending the opening of the restaurant for us, setting the table and serving us at table, all in an atmosphere of great harmony, serenity and characterized by a pleasant convivial atmosphere. We truly felt like expected and appreciated guests, despite the time.
I thank the owner but also all the staff of the Locanda del Medioevo, an obligatory destination in the beautiful Ascoli Piceno, set in an ancient building in the city center a stone's throw from the Duomo. An enchanted place that leads the traveler to immerse himself in medieval atmospheres that are anything but forced or false.
We will definitely see each other again very soon...in fact, the next date is September 20th since on the 21st and 22nd we have a new course in which we will participate.
15/07/2024: A dive into the medieval past! Kind and friendly staff able to advise you based on your tastes and needs. We had two cuts (with Piceno red wine and Colonnata lard) which were very good, tasty and soft, especially mine which I wanted well cooked. The Ascoli olives are also good. A quiet place that allows you to imagine and travel, with your mind, over time, between one meal and another. Advised.
