one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. prices, food, and service, as well as athmosphere and location, all perfect. it's a bit far away from the main roads, but absolutely worth it. it's very meat based, so I wouldn't suggest it to vegetarians or vegans. if you're in the area, you have to go!

We went there for the first time with friends. It's a fantastic and evocative place with a view of Monte Forato. The service was excellent, and the food was excellent. Would we return? Definitely!

11/07/2026: Great local restaurant with lovely food and kind service. Went gor a 'Worker's Lunch' (€11 per head with coperto, primo, secondo, contorted and water). Some dishes carry a small surcharge but we found the quality to be very good. The panzanella was amazing. Will return. Recommended.
13/06/2026: Very nice place. Generous dishes. Tortelli Lucchesi are a little different from the traditional ones and very delicate, super focaccia, quality cured meats and decent house wine. Good experience.

Caffè Capretz

11/06/2026: One of the best options to eat a meal in Barga and surrounding areas. Capretz offers traditional Italian food but also has other culinary options including Argentinian, American, and Mexican to name a few. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the goulash, both were amazing. This was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
11/06/2026: We came for lunch. We didn't need to book but there was a large table of 20 reserved so maybe best to if you can. Service was good and the staff understood English. We ordered a capretz platter to start, a capretz burger and a Mexican burger washed down with a small beer, water and an ice tea. It was quite warm but there is plenty of shade to cool down in. It's a short walk up a steep hill from the road but worth it.
