Mavi' In Matera

Excellent pizza, super fair prices, friendly staff. You can enjoy the cool air while you eat!

I come back to this place repeatedly when visiting Matera. It is a "take away" type of place, but they have a few tables for eating on site, toilets, and a nice garden outside in the summer months. Great prices. Apparently they are always busy. The pizza is great, I especially love the Pizza carbonara.

​We ordered 3 takeaway pizzas: if I remember correctly, the Capricciosa, the Norcina, and the Ariannata. They are very thin-crust pizzas with very few toppings. The taste was okay, nothing special. Plus, waiting an hour for takeaway pizzas seems a bit excessive to me. On the bright side, the price is more than fair for a pizzeria in Matera.

We had an excellent pizza at this very nice place and it was very cheap, considering the prices in Matera. They don't offer table service, as it's a takeout pizzeria. You order your pizza, they give you a remote control, and when it's ready, you go and pick it up. They set your table with napkins and silverware provided. We ordered two pizzas and two drinks for €21. Compared to the prices in the city center, it's very affordable. Plus, it's a lovely outdoor spot overlooking the Sassi.

Excellent pizzeria. It stands out for the kindness of its staff, the quality of its products, and the digestibility of its dough.

The pizza wasn't bad for an electric oven, and it was well-topped. I recommend takeout rather than eating in because it's quite convenient (and you pay a cover charge anyway).

It's all delicious, you're really good, keep it up.
