I would give more stars if I could. This restaurant, its staff, and their food they create is exceptional. You’ll eat food you’ve never expected, things you couldn’t have dreamed of, but done in an approachable, caring manner. This isn’t a stuffy, fancy, make it complicated place. Instead - it’s absolutely wonderful, unexpected, and insanely good. The service is top notch. Would not change a thing, and will absolutely come back. Highly, highly recommend.

Interesting tasting menus, thoughtful and original dishes; the food often verged on over-savory flavors, which didn't faze me. The service was on point, the timing was right, and the dishes were sometimes described by rote. The wine list was extensive, and the prices were reasonable. Perhaps the informal, yet somewhat ungenuine attitude of some of the staff was a bit out of place. Overall, I'd say I was satisfied with this experience. Well done. P.S. Work on the dining room atmosphere; there's a lot of room for improvement!

Driven by curiosity to find a suitable restaurant for our weekend on Lake Como, we found this Michelin-starred restaurant just five minutes from the city center, in the municipality of Cernobbio. A simple location on the outside, yet very inviting and refined inside. The staff was very friendly and led us through a five-course culinary journey (excluding the meat, which was our choice). What can we say? We were impressed by every dish, perfectly balanced and meticulously prepared. Their two most iconic dishes are particularly noteworthy: the grilled kale and cavolo nero salad and the linguine with butter and spice powder; we perfectly perceived all the flavors within and admired the masterful balance of the ingredients. The desserts and pastries were also very carefully prepared. A culinary experience that fully deserves the star and is worth the price. Compliments to the young staff and the chef.

Last night, I had dinner at Materia in Cernobbio with my girlfriend. We chose the "Momentum Ampio" tasting menu (12 courses), the most comprehensive and varied of those offered. A challenging experience in the noblest sense of the word—for its duration, the depth of the pairings, and the intensity of the gastronomic narrative. Materia's cuisine is decidedly creative, the fruit of ongoing research and experimentation. A solid Italian foundation embraces international influences, with refined ingredients and unconventional pairings. The influence of chef Davide Caranchini is evident. He's young but has a distinguished background (Noma in Copenhagen and Le Gavroche in London), and has built a distinct and recognizable identity. Among the dishes that most impressed me was "Pasta, grapefruit, rue, and Sichuan pepper": a dish reminiscent of an Italian aperitivo, but reinterpreted in a contemporary way—fresh, citrusy, and surprising. The grilled salad was also memorable, a perfect example of how a simple concept can be transformed into something profound and technical. The journey continues with dishes of great personality—from hare cocktail to roast pheasant risotto, to char with seaweed and sea urchins—always consistent with a philosophy that places study and raw materials at the center. The finish, with cherries, Timut pepper, and sweet potato crème caramel, confirms the desire to break away from tradition without losing balance. To accompany the menu, we chose two glasses, both excellent and well-recommended by the sommelier: a Champagne Alain Bernard – Tradition Brut Premier Cru and, to follow, a Chassagne-Montrachet 2020 from Au Pied du Mont Chauve. These choices perfectly aligned with the journey, enhancing the dishes without ever overpowering them. A new location (recently opened, not far from the previous one), elegant and contemporary. The service is young, knowledgeable, and professional, yet never stuffy: an approach that puts you at ease and makes the experience even more enjoyable. The only small complaint—unrelated to the restaurant itself—is that the table behind us was particularly loud and noisy, which slightly dampened the intimate atmosphere such a meal deserves. Nothing that detracts from the overall excellence of the experience. Materia is a place where you come to be surprised, to step out of your comfort zone, and to experience thoughtful cuisine. An essential stop for those who love contemporary gastronomy.

Beautiful experience, complete tasting menu… apparently unusual flavors and combinations, but all cooked and balanced in a delicious way… kind staff who know how to put you at ease… tasting menu and two bottles of wine, €412 for two.
