A family-friendly, informal place. We tried the typical Gaeta dish, calamarelle alla vota, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The first courses were also good, but we didn't try the desserts. The house wine was mediocre (though it was from a Roman winery, bottled with the restaurant's label). Prices were reasonable. Reservations are required (at least on summer weekends).

For us, Masaniello is THE restaurant in Gaeta. It's become a regular stop every time we come to Gaeta. For a day or three, always Masaniello's. The food is excellent and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

The food was very good, but…
The waiter's friendliness was, quite simply, appalling: unfriendly and brusque.
He ushered us into the indoor dining room, even though there was still space outside. Other guests who arrived later and hadn't made reservations were seated outside again. Go figure.
What a waste of good food.

Highly recommended! Excellent seafood dishes, carefully prepared, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The calamari dish is truly exquisite, not to mention the linguine with clams and scampi: a true delight! A must-visit if you're looking for a great dinner in Gaeta, with excellent value. We'll definitely be back!

Honestly, given the reviews, I expected better. The seafood appetizer was plentiful but lacked flavor. The linguine with clams was too salty for my taste and tasted neither of the sea nor of garlic and oil. The shrimp and prawns used in the pasta sauce were not fresh. Could it be the rough seas of the last few days? Maybe... but I specifically asked for their daily specials... the mussels were good, and the dishes based on squid and calamari sauces are good. Courteous and helpful staff. Family atmosphere. Fair prices.
Excellent food and service....the place is small and not modern but perhaps that is its characteristic.

Tremendous old school cooking in a place that looks like it hasn't changed in decades. We were recommended to come here by the boss of La Salute which was closed for renovation. Terrific antipasti selection. Worth a visit.

A historic restaurant in Gaeta, every time you go on a trip, you eat at Masaniello. The fish is incredibly fresh, the service is impeccable, and the prices are affordable.
