L'Oste del Re In Orvieto

I had lunch at this osteria today. There were two of us, and we ordered a plate of umbrichelli with wild boar ragù, a plate of umbrichelli with porcini mushrooms, a portion of peposo, and a chocolate and hazelnut mousse. The umbrichelli with ragù were delicious, very flavorful, and although the wild boar meat can sometimes be too strong, in this dish it was perfectly balanced. As for the umbrichelli with porcini mushrooms, they were also very good; for personal taste, I would have preferred them a little more "savory." The peposo, accompanied by roasted potatoes, was soft and creamy. Finally, I was very impressed with the chocolate mousse; I also appreciated the crunchy contrast provided by the hazelnuts. The staff was very courteous, not pushy when serving us the next courses, and willing to explain some of the dishes. If I were to return to Orvieto, I would definitely consider eating here again.

We went for lunch on April 12th, with four of us and two dogs. The restaurant was traditional and welcoming. The food was high quality and plentiful. The prices were fair for the quality and quantity. I highly recommend it; it was a great experience.

We walked in without a reservation (but after reading the positive reviews), and they found us a table for lunch for five (plus two small dogs) even though it was Easter and we were close to closing time. What can I say? Simply superb! We had two platters of mixed cold cuts and cheeses, two portions of porchetta, three first courses, one second course, plus beer, Coke, water, and coffee, for €110 total. Excellent porchetta, excellent cured meats, and excellent first and second courses. We also tried their truffle honey, and it was so good I bought a jar. A place I would return to often if only it were close! Special mention for the owner, a wonderful and friendly person!

Fantastic staff, friendly and welcoming, as well as very professional. The food... what can I say? We ate deliciously. The focaccia with creamed potatoes, porchetta, and cheese took me to heaven!

These 5 stars aren't enough to describe their kindness, hospitality, and professionalism. If you have any allergies, you can blindly trust what they tell you because the dishes are made directly by them and they know the ingredients precisely. I leave this well-deserved positive review and take this opportunity to send a big hello on behalf of the children who have also given positive reviews directly on site 😜

Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff. Without a reservation, it's best to go early, not during peak hours. Highly recommended.

An excellent restaurant in the center of Orvieto, where meat is the main focus. We had excellent first courses, but the highlight was a braised stew called peposo... Amazing!

A truly unique historic venue with super professional and friendly staff. The food is truly delicious at very reasonable prices. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Orvieto.

House wine is great, food is even better. From starters to desert everything was great. The only small problem is wrong opening hours on the official website.
