30/03/2026: I went to the Osteria del Gallo e del Volpe on Saturday evening. Although I'm from the province of Avellino, I learned about this place thanks to the Michelin guide. For two, we ordered: an Easter appetizer, soup with Taranto beans and pork belly in teriyaki sauce, laticauda lamb, smoked duck, mille-feuille with Chantilly and dark chocolate, a glass of water, and a glass of Taurasi. Total: €101. Excellent value.
Elegant location, exquisite and well-presented food, and a generous glass of Taurasi. Friendly service, always attentive and never intrusive.
Negative notes
I didn't like the vegetables served with the smoked duck. (The duck was excellent!)
The laticauda lamb was delicious, but one of the chops was a bit overcooked and therefore a bit stringy.
The service was a bit annoyed by our presence, especially the young man, at the end of the evening, especially since we were the last customers of the evening (so they were quite justified). Excellent experience, worth trying again.
28/03/2026: Osteria is just the name; as soon as you enter, you feel like you're in a high-end restaurant, a "starred" one, to be precise. We booked for Saturday and it certainly lived up to expectations. The tomato soup entree was truly delicious, and the first courses we ordered were beautifully presented and even better in flavor. Perhaps only the dessert didn't live up to the quality of the main courses. The wine list is extensive and the service excellent. Prices are commensurate with the quality. Nothing to complain about.
