Beautiful trattoria Everything was delicious! Nicola and the friendly staff They also have pizza, but I preferred the good pasta with guanciale.

We had lunch in a welcoming atmosphere, with exquisite appetizers and first courses. We'll definitely be back. We recommend it.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner here with eight people (without a reservation!). We received a warm welcome and were immediately given a lovely table in the courtyard (including high chairs for children). The food and drinks were delicious, and the staff was very attentive. The prices were also very reasonable! Even the restrooms were spotless (which isn't always the case). We'll definitely be back!

We entered this place without reading the (bad) reviews, drawn by the lovely internal garden. What can I say? The wild boar pappardelle were the best I've ever tasted, and the tordelli were also incredible. People's cruelty reaches its lowest ebb when they have to criticize someone just for going to four restaurants.

Food a little above average especially the tortellini al ragu but not good value for money compared to other local restaurants. Pleasant courtyard but too much plastic foliage and I couldn’t spot a real lemon. Service a little disorganised.

Gorgeous location, excellent food, and very friendly service. We had lunch in the gallery leading to the courtyard, which, although less "scenic" because you're not among the lemon trees, feels, in my opinion, cooler at lunchtime than the courtyard itself.

Amazing! Great atmosphere. Best service we’ve had in Italy so far. My child is a picky eater but loves olives and got a little bowl on the house.

Wonderful place for lunch on a rainy day. We sat inside by the pizza station - the pizza chef was a happy woman and quite busy. Friendly staff and efficient service. About 15 minutes wait for two freshly-prepared, piping-hot excellent pizzas. About €10 each washed down with 0.5l of house Red for €10. Nice Americano to finish. Happy customers. Thank you.

We stumbled upon this restaurant, having wandered down an alleyway into a courtyard surrounded by lemon trees and shaded for me and sunny for Val. We drank some nice spritzers and some red wine and ate very good pizza. The majority of people eating here were Italian so authentic is the word! I would come back. In fact next time I come to Lucca I will come back

30/05/2026: Bar Chiara is one of the best places in my town; I've had the opportunity to go and have a good coffee; I haven't tried their food yet. For people who use this place for a quick lunch for work, I think it's ideal. Good luck, owners! May this business last for many years to come. Petro61.

Antica Locanda da Luca

08/06/2026: Excellent. We had dinner here one evening when we were just getting our bearings in Viareggio. Happened to go here with no recommendations and so happy with did. From start to finish we had a great time. Staff were chatty and very attentive, food was full of flavour and perfectly timed. Atmosphere was wonderful. The owner/chef Luca is an incredibly nice gent. When he found out we are irish he was very welcoming to us and couldnt have been more pleasant as were all the staff we dealt with. Will happily return when back in Viareggio.
31/05/2026: I was torn between an interesting menu and the poorly maintained outdoor tables and somewhat shabby atmosphere. While the interior is very beautiful and quaint, I preferred to sit outside given the nice weather. The service is typical of an old-fashioned trattoria... the kind of service you'd get from a mother who doesn't want to overindulge because she has her own thoughts and knows you'll be fine. But I have to admit, that's also its beauty... it's not overly fussy, focusing more on substance than form. The foreigner, however, was very kind and friendly. Now we get to the most interesting part... the "coccetto di ragù con polenta" was fantastic, unsurpassed in taste and presentation! Next came the delicious tortelli al ragù, cooked to perfection. Generous portions, just what gourmets like, accompanied by an equally generous glass of wine. I can't review the fish menu because I don't eat fish. With a more refined and modernized outdoor seating area, without abandoning the old-fashioned style, it would deserve 6 stars!
