Historic pizzeria in Pavia. We used to go there for basketball about 30 years ago. I went back and had a great time. The pizza was good, well-cooked, and very digestible (so it's well-leavened). The tomato and anchovies were excellent. RECOMMENDED, a nice memory.

Lo Sciabecco is an absolute must for enjoying excellent food, made with quality ingredients and served in a family atmosphere. The seafood is divine, but everything else is equally as good... A special mention for the pizza, which, in all likelihood, isn't always up to par with the cuisine. It's a shame, because you lose out on quality and flavor compared to the food.

The pizza was a bit burnt on the edges, but it was good. The calzone had an excellent filling, but the dough was almost raw. The desserts were good. Friendly service and a family atmosphere. I'll be back to try the food, which, from the dishes I've seen at other tables, looks better than the pizzeria.

I've been going to Sciabecco for over 35 years, I think, and their pizza has always been the best in Pavia. I feel at home there. Mario is number one.

15/05/2026: A wonderful place. Evocative and quaint. The waiter was superb, even explaining how to make their ragù and zuppa inglese. The dishes were well-proportioned and well-priced, yet each had a unique flavor that made the evening unforgettable.

03/05/2026: Lunch! Always great! Good cured meats, good beers, and super sandwiches! Everything locally sourced! Well done. Fast service, in the square, very nice in the summer! Rich and quality aperitif!
01/05/2026: A small inn with a few rooms, very well located in the center of Varzi. It has a bar and restaurant open from Thursday to Sunday. Excellent service. Very high-quality cuisine.
