L'Asinello In Castelnuovo berardenga

Second best Michelin restaurant I've tried. Had the 8 course (which is more like 11 after all the extras) with wine pairing. Dishes are creative, sometimes adventurous. Even when average there is something to appreciate. Service is attentive but not overwhelming. Wine pairing is great. Prices are unusually affordable for a Michelin star. The atmosphere is okay, the music isn't loud and you can't hear other tables' discussions unless you want to. If you're in the area definitely give this a try. It might not blow you away on all dishes, but it will be a very fine dinner all in all. Oh and for reviewers who said the staff was arrogant, that is far from the truth in my experience. Everyone was friendly.

We spent a special evening here! Food here is in a league of its own! Anyone who is willing to spend a little more will be offered a very special experience. The bread that accompanies the food deserves a special mention, it is extremely good and homemade!

Had a wonderful evening. Located in seemingly the middle of nowhere, off a tiny piazza in a tiny town in a beautiful old house. The drive to and from the restaurant was an adventure in itself, in the dark, on tiny back roads, in the rain. Staff were welcoming and friendly, patient to explain the dishes, and accommodating to our request for two extra courses to be added to the 5 course set menu. Highlight off the 5 course was the duck breast served with chicken liver mousse and compressed bitter melon. I love duck breast in general, and this one was both particularly well cooked and flavourful. The pheasant and almond risotto add-on from their “greatest hits” menu was possibly the best risotto I have had, so rich and tasty. Great experience off the beaten path.

Excellent food both in taste and presentation, warm service, and incredible value for this level of restaurant. The food is simple local cooking to perfection.

I had been waiting for this reservation for months and I was not disappointed! The restaurant has a very cozy vibe with a great atmosphere. The service was just amazing. They were patient and very informative on the menu and the wine. I strongly recommend the wine pairing. And then the food... WOW! I chose the Greatest Hits 4 course menu and it was incredible! From their classic almond risotto to their new beef tartare, I was left speechless with all the flavours and beautiful arrangements. If you ever are in Chianti or close, this restaurant must be on your bucket list. Make sure to have a reservation, the places are limited. This the second time we have had dinner at this excellent family run property. Tonight we had their 5 course menu which started with finely sliced duck breast, then a pasta dish. The main event was lamb and ended with a really great desert, see photos. A really excellent meal with good friendly service in a lovely village location.

….Giardino carino, piccolo, ti senti accolto e raccolto… Attenzione ai dettagli con familiarità, come il servizio, amorevole e dolce la ragazza, un po’ più freddi i titolari….Cibo e presentazione in linea con la stella ricevuta, ottime materie prime del territorio e non, carta dei vini che potrebbe essere ampliata… Saletta interna molto intima adatta x l’autunno/inverno… e’ mancato quel wow avuto invece in altri stellati, ma una cena la potrei consigliare….
