Very nice place; we went for lunch on a weekday. Unfortunately, the service was very slow because, from what we saw, the woman was alone. She was super nice, but we waited over an hour for a plate of overcooked pasta.
The platter was a bit sparse; there were more pickles than cured meats and cheeses.
I honestly can't recommend it highly enough. It's a shame because the place is very good.

What can I say...a magical, historic, and stunning place.
We've been there several times, even with friends.
I booked lunch here after reading some ridiculous, less-than-favorable reviews, which made me laugh, especially the owner's responses. I think you have to try it for yourself, and in fact, we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food just as much. The staff was fun and fast, and the dishes were unique and very good. I always recommend Taberna when I hear from friends who go to Calascio. Congratulations!

We had lunch during the excursion to Rocca Calascio. The place is cute, with a small dining room and everything else outside. The menu offers a small selection of typical Abruzzo dishes; I prefer them to overly complicated menus that overwhelm you with choices.
The appetizer was fried pecorino, cacio e ovo balls, and summer parmigiana. We continued with ravioli, fusilloni, lamb, and a side of chicory and potatoes. All very good and recommended.
One small point: There's a sign warning of slow service due to the altitude, and to avoid the "scrotal percussionists"... All true, between appetizer and main course, it took a good hour, but to avoid any scrotal percussion, we were patient.

A very nice little place to enjoy excellent arrosticini. The restaurant is located on a charming little street overlooking the Abruzzo hills.
The only downside is the slow service; we waited about 1 hour and 20 minutes before eating.

Normally nothing extraordinary...for celiacs it only has bread...so for a gluten-free lunch I don't recommend it...but pasta? There isn't any...where you get packaged bread you also get pasta to satisfy celiac customers.

Ormai è diventato d'obbligo fare tappa qui se si è in zona. Arrosticini molto saporiti, come anche le tagliatelle con melanzane, pomodorini e grana. Tutto accompagnato da vino rosso della casa. Forse prezzi un pò alti, ma la qualità non si discute.

Siamo stati con degli amici a cena alla taverna, cibo ottimo, dall’antipasto ai dolci. Personale gentile e posto da favola. Consigliato per chi si ferma a visitare la Rocca.
