Easter lunch with my wife.
The restaurant is downtown, so it's a great spot for a post-lunch or dinner stroll.
The outdoor seating area where we ate is comfortable, but not the best—a bit chaotic.
Very welcoming with excellent service. The waiter who looked after us and served us was knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations. We ordered:
- veal with tuna sauce and Fassona beef tartare
- agnolotti del plin and tajiarin (I don't know if I spelled it correctly) with sausage ragù
- sliced Fassona beef
- gianduiotto
- two glasses of Barbera
- a bottle of water
The quality of the food is excellent; I highly recommend the veal with tuna sauce, the agnolotti del plin, and the gianduiotto.
A small flaw—a hair on the plate (it can happen to anyone)—and they immediately changed our dish, offering us another dessert at the end: a mix of fried foods, a typical Easter dessert in that area.
The wine list is excellent, and the Barbera we drank was delicious.
It's a shame the Fassona beef was overcooked, in my opinion; it also didn't taste as piping hot as if it had just been cooked.
Total cost: €120 (dessert included).
What can I say? I recommend it for the dishes listed above and the service.

Excellent place. Expensive if you want a full lunch, Easter lunch style, but given the location and the quality of the products, it's worth it.

Decent but overpriced for what you get and targets foreigners. Acts like they are giving you free wine but charge you in the end 20 euro for basic Barolo after a 60 euro tasting of basic wines not more than half a glass.
Small slivers of cheese for 14 euro. Mid wine. Not worth it. Dessert very generic. Don’t waste your time. Waiters are lame. No charm and all about getting you to spend more.

This place has always had a good reputation in Alba and was once known for its good value (but not anymore, as prices are high, like many restaurants in the center). The menu is Piedmontese, slightly revisited, and you can find the prices on their website: appetizers €15-18, first courses €16, second courses >€20, and desserts €8-9.
The appetizers weren't bad at all, and the accompanying breadsticks were very good. The problem was the main courses: the tajarin with ragu and the agnolotti with roast beef sauce were strange, adhering to tradition in appearance but not in taste, which wasn't pleasant, while the tagliata was flavorless.
What a shame! Many previous reviews are excellent, so I don't know. Perhaps the others are very positive because they're written by people who aren't local.

A place I definitely want to return to!
A typical Piedmontese menu in a minimalist, elegant, and welcoming setting.
As soon as you enter, the aroma of white truffle and ragù immediately whets your appetite!
The traditional dishes are impeccably cooked, with authentic flavors and beautifully presented.
I really appreciated the service, which I consider superior to other restaurants of the same caliber.

Today we went to La Piola restaurant.
We found a service that was able to resolve a problem we had caused due to a mistake in our reservation.
They were extremely kind and highly professional.
The food was truly delicious, evoking memories of my childhood.
My heartfelt congratulations to everyone.

La Piola
La Piola delivers a solid and reliable interpretation of traditional Piedmontese cuisine in the center of Alba. The cooking is well executed, focused on local dishes and familiar flavors rather than innovation, which works well in this context.
Vitello tonnato was correctly prepared, with tender meat and a balanced, classic sauce. The carne cruda was fresh and clean, respectful of raw material quality, and the plin showed good technique, even if the presentation remained straightforward. Desserts were simple and consistent with the trattoria-style approach.
The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, with good representation of the region. Verduno Pelaverga proved to be a particularly good match for the menu, offering freshness and drinkability without overpowering the dishes.
Service was efficient and professional, though more functional than engaging, and the atmosphere is lively and informal, in line with expectations for a well-known local restaurant.
Overall, La Piola is clearly above average and offers good value for the quality delivered. While not aiming for fine dining refinement, it is a dependable choice for classic Alba cuisine, justifying a strong four-star rating.
