Delicious food! The menu is small which means the quality is very good, and it was! I had the Tagliato di manzo and it was fantastic! 😍 I highly recommend coming to this restaurant!

Matteo, his mother Johnna, and his father take care of you like your family. Known to my friends as “the place on the corner”(because it literally was on my street corner), this place is more than just a restaurant. This is the type of place where you walk past everyday and the staff stick their head out the door to say hi. This is the type of place where Johnna kisses you on the cheek to greet you and send you on your way, where Matteo helps you practice Italian each meal and you teach him some English along the way, and this is the place where Matteo’s father shakes your hand at the end and always makes sure his cooking was delicious. But aside from the fantastic service and incredible family that is La Pentola dell’oro the food is what Florence is about. It’s no frills, traditional, tastes like grandpa made it food (which he did) that is just damn good. You’ll start your meal off with a bang enjoying their take on Florence’s famous schiacciata bread. Then get the beef tartare with shaved truffle where the quality of meat in this city shows. Follow it up with a pasta - the pici is like biting into a pillow and their ragu sauces are fantastic (my favorite was the sausage ragu but you can’t go wrong with the tripe or duck). If you like seafood pastas their mussels and clams one is killer. In the right season you can get the truffle and cheese pasta which is rich, creamy, and incredibly subtle with truffle for the non-truffle lovers like myself. Finish it off by asking for the tiramisu made with caffe and Johnna will put together a well layered tiramisu that rivals any tiramisu I’ve ever had. The name La Pentola dell’oro translates to “the pot of gold” and that is exactly what this restaurant is - a pot of gold in the rich city of Florence.

When we arrived, we were invited to the wine cellar to choose our wine. We just finished a wonderful biftecca alla fiorentina and it was absolutely delicious. Every detail was taken into consideration including plates heated and ready to receive our meal. Meat cooked to perfection and sides very tasty. We finished with a homemade very original tiramisu. The overall service was service and experience was excellent!

Family business with a bit of a problem with service due to the language. Everything we ate was delicious. We had Florentine steak and pasta and it was all delicious.

The dishes were presented with great care.

We can't rave enough about this family-run restaurant. An exceptionally good two-course lunch menu at a very good price, very friendly owners. You couldn't better fulfill the Italian lunchtime rule (look for a restaurant frequented by lawyers and construction workers).
