A beautiful, well-kept, and authentic place. The menu and wine list are excellent, offering a wide range of Matera's traditional dishes. The staff is friendly and helpful. The small cinema at the back of the room is a lovely idea, allowing you to watch scenes from every film featuring Matera. We had a wonderful time!

A quaint Matera restaurant nestled among the rocks, it's exactly what a tourist desires and looks for when visiting such a unique place. A small note at the end of the meal: if you wish, in the lower area of ​​the restaurant there's a video projector where you can watch clips from films shot in Matera. Back to the food: for this experience, I decided to opt for the tasting menu at €58, with the addition of a half portion of cured meats, Slow Food Presidium products from the Potenza area. The products, from the prosciutto to the capocollo and finally the soppressata, are truly top-notch. The trio of appetizers was a pleasant journey; a special mention goes to the fried crusco pepper from the Silesian mountains, truly exceptional considering the entire process, including the freezing of the product. What can I say about the fresh veal carpaccio? Excellent execution, and here too the addition of the pepper along with the Matera bread made the difference. The fried cod on a bed of peppers was also good. The only thing I would have appreciated was a less rushed service; I had just started eating the food when the appetizers arrived. For my first course, I had their orecchiette with a typical Matera sauce and pieces of beef. It was a good dish, but the portions were a bit small. What I didn't particularly appreciate, in my humble opinion, was the addition of raw olive oil, which, in my opinion, somewhat overshadowed the flavor of the sauce, being quite spicy. For my second course, I had the pork cheek, with butter, I emphasize, and a reduction of Aglianico wine, and a slice of apple. In conclusion, this place, despite its typically touristy feel, manages to be a significant reference point with its cuisine made from quality ingredients and one of the most beautiful locations in Matera. Total price €70, including dessert.

Highly recommended - really enjoyed the roast lamb

A very nice restaurant on the main road leading into the Sassi. The service was very professional and the food was traditional/local. My kids enjoyed it very much too.
