Great dining experience - we enjoyed everything we had although the menu was somewhat limited because they were closing for a 3 week holiday the next day

Super quaint, with truly exquisite dishes. The service was impeccable, and we felt pampered from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to sample Matera's traditional dishes in a unique and refined restaurant. We shared delicious first courses such as orecchiette and paccheri with cod, and sampled the traditional crapiata and pignata with mutton. The cured meats were also excellent, as were the wine and desserts. The restaurant also has a cinema room with beautiful historical images of the city.

An unbelievable location. Looks ordinary from the out side but is in fact a deep cavern with stairs going down into the rock. The food was very tasty taking pride in local tradition and the staff was very friendly. Would gladly come back

If you are seeking traditional food visiting Matera this comes highly recommended indeed. Situated in the Sassi downstairs, it is a charming restaurant with a cinema downstairs. Staff were friendly and service very attentive. It has a cosy feeling inside with a great atmosphere. Onto the food - we started with the pulses and bread which has a wonderful rustic taste. We had a fennel and orange salad which was incredibly fresh and made from high-quality produce. The cod main and the mutton were bith excellent. The mutton has a topping of Matera bread and the contents tasted of a perfect savoury flavour. I also had the wine pairing for 30 euros for 5 reasonably sized glasses. The beetroot carpaccio was wonderful too. The gelato and desserts also showed care in the making - the gelato with a little olive oil. A great place to come and experienced Matera.

It was truly a journey into the world of good food... everything was fantastic and excellent, from the service provided by Andrea and Paolo (super friendly) to the truly top-notch dishes.

A traditional, welcoming, and elegant restaurant in the Sassi district. Attentive service, albeit a bit rushed (we had dinner in 45 minutes, including time to peruse the menu), and excellent ingredients. The pork cheek was excellent, though a bit salty. A wide selection of wines, though less so for desserts. The sliced ​​pumpkin was overly sweet, and should be reconsidered. Recommended, even if the price range is high.

First time in Matera, a wonderful discovery!!!! Perfect welcome, very good food, excellent wines!!! Dishes prepared with professionalism and love, the waiter explained each dish perfectly to us, even recommending wines! EXCELLENT!!!

We had dinner at this wonderful restaurant on January 3, 2026. It's a charming place in the center of Matera. The owners and staff were friendly and professional, and the food was traditional and of excellent quality. A special after-dinner experience was enjoyed in the cave cinema, where clips from films shot in Matera were shown. If you go to Matera, stop at this restaurant; it's worth it!
