In the center of Bari, a very nice place, excellently prepared traditional dishes, friendly and professional staff, absolutely competitive prices... a must try!

Everything was delicious! The bread and olive oil were spectacular!! We had a great time!

First off: Top-notch service. Extremely friendly staff, very accommodating with our young child. They asked beforehand if he wanted something to eat right away, which is really unusual. The antipasti were very good, the risotto just wasn't to my taste, but far from bad (so the restaurant wasn't lacking). Highly recommended!!

A perfect evening at La Locanda di Federico, in the heart of Bari's historic center. A welcoming location, a refined atmosphere, the kind of place where you immediately sense the attention to detail. I started with grilled octopus with BBQ sauce: perfectly cooked, tender on the inside and lightly seared on the outside, with the BBQ sauce adding a smoky twist without overpowering the seafood. A dish of land and sea that I rarely find so well balanced. Followed by rice with scampi cream, perfectly creamed and with an intense, clean flavor—you could taste the quality of the ingredients. Attentive, yet unobtrusive, service, excellent value. I recommend this place to anyone seeking Apulian cuisine with a creative touch, in the heart of Bari Vecchia. I'll definitely be back.

I was truly captivated by this experience. The appetizers are original, sophisticated, and innovative, with surprising pairings that remain true to tradition. The wine selection is also excellent, perfectly recommended and perfectly complementing each course. I rarely return to a place more than once in a month, especially in the Bari Vecchia area, where, unfortunately, the atmosphere in restaurants is one of constant table turnover, very similar dishes, and, often, because they're "tourist-catching" establishments, low-quality ingredients—the "tourists eat here, they don't understand anything" kind of thing. Well, no! I'm here to review La Locanda di Federico for a simple reason: in the square and in the Bari Vecchia area, it stands out from all the surrounding restaurants (which I've had the opportunity to try over the years, but it's always the same old story). I think the place strikes the right balance between tradition and innovation, dishes with traditional roots but prepared and served with a modern twist without losing the authenticity of the flavors of the past. As the wife of a former restaurateur, I imagine that behind the kitchen are the hands of a young chef, eager to demonstrate that the cuisine of the past is, in fact, the cuisine of today, accessible to all ages. The same goes for the dining room, the staff were incredibly kind, always smiling and attentive to the customer's needs. The spaghetti with scampi were noteworthy—it truly tasted like seafood—the octopus croquette (which I was initially a little skeptical about ordering, but it was actually a delight: flavorful, smoky, and perfectly crunchy), and the cod, oh my! It was buttery, not at all salty, and served with a creamy vegetable and pepper sauce that was simply fabulous. The wine list was also excellent. What can I say, a true gem in Bari's old town, definitely worth a try!

The constant search for new dishes and respect for tradition are no easy feat...but at Federico's inn, I found both highly respected! The cuisine, while faithful to tradition, is reinterpreted with elegance and mastery by a chef who, despite her young age, puts her heart and soul into her creations. The qualified staff is attentive and precise to guests' requests, with detailed knowledge of dishes and wines: I asked the sommelier for advice, and she suggested pairings that would respect and enhance the flavors!
