La Cantina In Scansano

Unmissable! Traditional Maremma cuisine prepared with passion. Generous dishes at a more than reasonable price. Very attentive and never intrusive service. The restored ancient cellar is worth a look! A word of advice: save room for the tiramisu!

Family-run business serving typical Maremma specialties. Very friendly service. Mom and Grandma are in the kitchen, son and daughter in the front of house. Beautiful vaulted cellar. Good value for money.

We ate here for lunch, as it was practically the only restaurant open on Thursdays in Scansano. We had two homemade pappardelle, one with wild boar ragù and one with venison ragù, both delicious, but a bit pricey for Tuscany (€18 each). The service was kind and attentive, but the atmosphere was a bit unwelcoming; we felt a bit lonely in the dark and empty restaurant. Perhaps some background music would make a difference. We still recommend it for a good meal if you're passing through Scansano.

This is probably one of my most favorite restaurants in all of Italy! Grandmother and mother in the kitchen. The younger generation out front. You won't get a better home cooked meal in all of Italy! The food is so good, you need to eat in silence and reflect on life! I'm not joking! My soul has never been fed so well and I lose all ability to communicate with others. This place is cozy, intimate, and the food is the best you can find. If it's out of your way, still take the time to try it! You won't be disappointed!!

What can I say? The dishes were well-prepared and explained by the friendly and welcoming staff. The chestnut tortelli were worth the trip. Excellent selection of wines and spirits.
