La Baracchina Sul Molo In Viareggio

We found it average. The dishes were prepared as they should be, the service was adequate. We enjoyed the octopus, a fairly generous dish served with an excellent side dish, but we didn't like the desserts. The selection of bottles was decent, with some reasonably priced labels (€18). The only two things we didn't like were the injustice of the three euro per person cover charge, and the microfiltered water, which we found to taste like chlorine, which forced us to buy bottled water, which was also three euros each if I'm not mistaken.

We go to La Branchina every year and have always loved the truly excellent food and the wonderful atmosphere. One of my mother's wishes was to celebrate her birthday at a table right by the water, so this year we came **specifically a week early to reserve**. It was even more important to us because this is the fifth consecutive year my mother has celebrated her birthday here. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that our table was inside and that we hadn't requested a table near the water when we made the reservation, which is simply not true. We then waited outside for about 20 minutes, without receiving an apology or an offer of anything to drink. The food and location remain splendid, which is precisely why the experience was even more disappointing. We weren't expecting special treatment, just that our reservation, made well in advance, would be honored. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a very special evening for my mother's birthday and the realization of her little dream of dining by the water turned into a huge disappointment.

Even though I arrived without a reservation, they gave me a warm welcome, and especially welcomed my dog ​​(not exactly easy, being a medium-large sized dog). Excellent dinner, outside on the pier with a view of the sunset. The Viareggio-style caciucco was delicious, with an exceptional, rich sauce (in fact, I couldn't eat any other dishes). The dessert (strawberry tiramisu) was fresh, homemade, and you can taste the difference... sublime! Kudos to the staff and the kitchen... a truly worthy place, and prices are lower than average in the area!

When we come to Viareggio, one of our favorite stops is the Baracchina. During this time of year, it's wonderful to eat by the canal with the sea breeze caressing you. Enjoy a good wine to accompany the excellent, carefully prepared dishes. The appetizers are always a wonderful and delicious surprise.

Overall, a great experience at La Baracchina. The food was truly excellent: we particularly enjoyed the peppered mussels and the mixed fried fish, cooked to perfection, crispy, and beautifully breaded. The service was quick and attentive, with the bill perfectly proportionate to the quality and quantity ordered. The only real downside is the chaos: the place is very noisy, and it's difficult to have a normal conversation at the table without having to shout. It's a shame, because with a slightly quieter atmosphere, the experience would have been much better. For the quality of the food, however, it's definitely worth it.

Excellent food, cool atmosphere even in the height of summer. The only problem is that it's difficult to find a seat; you need to book in advance.
