Kapperi In Desenzano del garda

We visited Kapperi with our family and had a lovely table in the tastefully decorated courtyard. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the tables were generously spaced, and we were able to enjoy the evening in peace and quiet. We were particularly drawn to the restaurant because of its excellent reputation for gluten-free cuisine. And we weren't disappointed. The gluten-free pizza really set the bar very high for us. Both my wife and I agree that it was the best gluten-free pizza we've had so far at Lake Garda. The other dishes were also consistently of a very high standard. The beef tartare was outstanding, as was the swordfish. The wine selection also impressed us, and the desserts were excellent as well. The homemade tiramisu was delicious, and the ice cream was a big hit with our children. My father-in-law was especially impressed by the foie gras with caramelized onions. He travels to France regularly and said that this was among the best foie gras he has ever eaten. As we recall, the dish, at around €39, wasn't exactly cheap, but in his opinion, it was worth every penny. The service was also very friendly and always tried its best to understand and fulfill all our requests, despite the language barrier. If I had to offer a small suggestion for improvement, it would be this: Our server didn't seem very experienced. Wine glasses weren't automatically refilled, and empty bottles or used dishes sometimes remained on the table for a while, so we occasionally had to ask for things to be cleared away. A less cluttered table is especially pleasant when traveling with children. However, this is really nitpicking and should be taken as constructive feedback. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The high quality of the food, the lovely ambiance, and the very friendly service, in our opinion, justify the slightly higher price. We would gladly return and give it a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars.

Everything was delicious! Isabella recommended the curry and rice dish, and it was absolutely amazing. Her service was exceptional—so friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Thank you for making our visit even more enjoyable!

As for the pizza, I personally found it okay, especially for €10. It's good but nothing special. The Carbonara is even €15, a tiny dish. Tiramisu, on the other hand, is very good but incredibly expensive at €8. Let's just say the price doesn't reflect the quality at all. If it were half the price, perhaps it would.

Located away from the city center, the restaurant certainly benefits from a quieter setting, but this isn't enough to compensate for an overall disappointing experience. Despite promising reviews, the reality fell far short of expectations. The welcome was cold, almost indifferent, and this observation applies to all the staff we encountered: no smiles, no warmth in any interactions. The food was equally disappointing. The dishes were bland; the pizza, in particular, was unremarkable and as simple as the rest of the meal. Finally, the decor, which we had imagined would be more refined and natural, appeared poorly furnished, with no real effort to create a pleasant atmosphere. This place clearly doesn't live up to its promises, as far as we're concerned.

17.6.2026 Worst gluten-free pizza ever. Under a tasteless thin bubble crust, a thin, hard yeasty flatbread that even a saw blade knife couldn't cut. The filling was unsalted, tasteless, a big pile of arugula. Dessert, gluten-free tiramisu, was good.

We went to Ristorante Kapperi for lunch. The food was excellent and the staff were super attentive. They changed the cutlery after each course; you can tell they care about every detail. A great plus for those with intolerances: they have two separate kitchens, one for regular meals and one for celiacs, ensuring maximum safety. The owner is always present, attentive to everything and extremely courteous. You can see the care he takes. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
