Il Salotto In Milano

I don't understand why it has such a low rating. The Milanese risotto was perfect, as was the ossobuco. Obviously, being inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the setting is magnificent.

I don't recommend going there in the afternoon, the service is not nice, the orders are mixed up and the atmosphere is slightly spoiled because of it.

Unfortunately the nice meal I had was offset by not only the waiter trying to take advantage of me as a tourist by asking for a tip — not at all commonplace in Italy. But by also entering the amount (with his desired tipping amount) into the EFTPOS machine before requesting I pay it. These places aim to take advantage of tourists, believing they can contravene general societal and cultural norms within their own country to make extra money. I mentioned that in Australia, we don’t tip — and that Italy is the same. The ‘coperto’ charge already covers service in Italian restaurants, and as such believe my displeasure with being asked this was that I know they wouldn’t ever dream of asking for tips from their Italian customers. Food was okay; came out rather quickly, though — which called into question its freshness.

Such a charming place. Very friendly and attentive staff! We had excellent food and were well looked after! I highly recommend it!

We wanted to indulge in dinner at a restaurant in Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Since we were spoiled for choice, we ultimately settled on Il Salotto, which was the one that most appealed to us. Luckily, we chose to dine at 6:30 PM—when there were still some seats available without reservations—because the restaurant filled up completely within half an hour. We were served by a friendly and fast waiter, who cracked jokes nonstop. Granted, we were probably the only Italian patrons in the restaurant; everyone else was foreign. The dinner was good, though not exceptional, especially since you obviously pay for the ambiance here. In any case, it was definitely worth it.

Contrary to former reviews, we had an incredible experience at this restaurant. When we arrived, it was quiet and was a lovely atmosphere (which was part of the reason why we chose this restaurant over the one on the opposite side). The limoncello spritz was incredible! I also had the caprese salad which was delightful. For my main I had the pesto pasta which was incredible. I ended with a tiramisu. I can also share that the three other people I was with were delighted with their experience.

Sitting in the historic atmosphere of the Galleria and having lunch there was definitely a special experience. The pizzas we ordered looked very appealing – fresh tomatoes, burrata, and pesto were well-balanced. The flavor was solid, but not exceptional – in a city like Milan, you can definitely get this quality for less. Since the restaurant is located directly in the Galleria, the prices are significantly overpriced. Comparable pizzas can be found downtown for about half the price. As with almost everywhere in Milan, a service charge (coperto) is automatically added, which further increases the bill. The view and ambiance are impressive – if you're looking for a "tourist experience," you'll get your money's worth here. However, if you value good value, you'll find much better options in the city.

Encontré este gran restaurante justo caminando. El personal era amable y servicial. El Osso Bucco fue uno de los mejores que he comido. Era una porción generosa y a un precio razonable. Volvimos para la segunda cena antes de salir de Milán.

Fabulous meal at II Salotto in the beautiful galleria Vittoria Emanuele. Really tasty ravioli as a primo & then Osso Bucco. Food good value. Drinks a bit expensive. But wonderful setting for a special treat.
