Il Merlo Nero In Garda

We were a group of eight people, including two small children. The appetizers, vitello tonnato and bruschetta, arrived relatively quickly, but unfortunately, neither was recommendable. The vitello was very dry, and the sauce was very heavy on the mayo. The bruschetta was a large piece of toast with very large chunks of tomato. Afterward, we unfortunately waited an hour and a half for the main course. We asked several times if the children's pasta could arrive earlier, but unfortunately, it came in the middle of the meal. We didn't all get our food at the same time; it arrived at very different times and very late. When we ordered wine, the bottle sat unopened on the table for 15 minutes without anyone coming to open it, despite our repeated requests. The main courses were all very tasty, but unfortunately, they arrived at very different times. Some dishes were finished long before the rest (especially the pizzas) arrived. The mussels in white wine sauce were particularly delicious, but unfortunately, they were served with very hard toast. The fish platter and the salmon pasta were also delicious! ... The view from the terrace right by the lake is unbeatable, especially in the evening when the sun shines over the mountains, so almost full marks for the ambiance! Unfortunately, glasses weren't cleared away until the very end, and we ended up with a very full and messy table, hence the slight deduction.

I had lunch yesterday, May 26, 2026, at this restaurant on the shores of Lake Garda. The food and service were excellent. The staff were truly friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be back.

Great location right on Lake Garda. Great drinks, good food. Pleasant atmosphere. Would gladly come again.

The atmosphere was very nice — but we had to wait an unusually long time for our drinks.

We ate well. We were able to eat outside, right on the lake, so I have no idea what the atmosphere is like outside of the outdoor area. Being a bit out of the way, it was less crowded than other restaurants, but still not crowded, even for the time of year.

We ate there twice and were thrilled. The staff is very friendly, the food is superb, and the view of Lake Garda is fantastic.
