The food is good and plentiful at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is relaxing, with a few hiccups with the Italian, but that's normal. The Chinese beer and rose grappa are excellent.

The food is really good. They're welcoming. Even without a reservation, you can find a seat because there's plenty of space. I'll be back often.

Best Chinese restaurant in Bologna! I've been going to this restaurant for many years and I think it's excellent, with everything you eat being of the highest quality! I also knew and frequented the previous Mandarino restaurant on Via Jussi in San Lazzaro di Savena. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. The owner is the nicest and kindest person you'll ever find in a restaurant. Overall, I'd say it's highly recommended! At least for me.

A fantastic find in San Donato. An old-fashioned Chinese restaurant with excellent, fast service and simple, yet perfectly cooked dishes in generous portions! Kudos to the very kind and helpful owner! Excellent rose grappa was offered at checkout. Everything was perfect!

Clean and well-kept place. Pleasant atmosphere with classical music in the background. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. Generous portions and reasonable prices.

A necessary preface: sorry to everyone reading this, but the dishes were so good I completely forgot to take photos 😅 and that says it all. Ristorante Mandarino is one of those historic establishments in the San Donato area that have stood the test of time because they do things right, without shortcuts. The menu is extensive and well-structured: from the great classics of Chinese cuisine to slightly less obvious dishes, all prepared with quality ingredients and always balanced flavors. I really enjoyed the appetizers, well-made and never greasy, as well as the first courses: rice and noodles cooked to perfection, generous portions, and rich but not heavy condiments. The second courses are the real highlight: tender meat, crunchy vegetables, tasty but never overpowering sauces, with just the right balance that keeps you eating without feeling heavy. Huge credit goes to the owner, who is always very, very, very kind: welcoming, smiling, attentive, and capable of making you feel truly welcome, as if you were a regular customer even on your first visit. It's the kind of genuine kindness that's increasingly rare these days. Overall, there's a calm, family atmosphere, the service is fast and attentive, and the quality of the food is consistent over time, which is by no means a given. A restaurant I always return to with pleasure, a true favorite in the San Donato area. Highly recommended, both for a casual dinner and for when you want to eat truly well.
