Il Gambero Rosso In Monte argentario

We happened upon Porto Ercole by chance and had lunch at Gambero Rosso. Nice place with a sea view. Two first courses and two desserts with half a liter of wine. €90, too expensive in my opinion.

Excellent raw fish, including oysters. First courses: Cantabrian anchovy risotto and scampi gnocchi. Excellent. Very attentive service, including a change of ashtrays. Relaxing atmosphere. Well done.

I booked through Google, requesting, if possible, an outdoor table with a sea view. I understand that, having booked the same day, it wasn't easy to accommodate this request, but upon arrival, no explanation was given: we simply found ourselves seated on the veranda. Unfortunately, the evening wasn't the best: a very large table made the place extremely noisy, to the point of being unable to converse with the person sitting across from us. The food wasn't stellar, perhaps also due to the pressure of the kitchen: spaghetti with clams was plentiful but overcooked and too salty; the fried fish was crispy but also excessively salty. As for the wine, several labels on the menu weren't available, and only after several attempts were we recommended the one that was actually available. On a positive note: at the end of the dinner, the owner at least apologized for the inconvenience caused by the noise. Overall, the menu was simple and unpretentious. A restaurant worth trying, but don't expect too much.

Tasting menu, 4 courses, 2 good, 2 less good… the price was a bit excessive, especially because the quantity was small. I don't expect to eat like in a trattoria in terms of quantity, obviously… but it was really a bit small…

The food was very good, the big minus was the service, which behaved very unprofessionally (the waiter took away our plates twice, from which we were still eating, trying to signal us to leave).

We had dinner a few nights ago. Given the atmosphere and prices, I wasn't expecting such a noisy place with such young, boisterous customers. We need more selection, considering we drove five hours to get there. The food is top-notch, but it's a shame some of the customers are so rude.

A historic restaurant in Porto Ercole, worthy of its reputation. A simple and concise menu, with raw fish and seafood as the main focus. Everything is beautifully presented, generous portions, and excellent quality. Impeccable service, professional and discreet, always attentive. A welcoming, modern yet warm space. The price is high, but absolutely in line with the quality and service offered.
