Il Frantoio In Capalbio

Stop for a quick lunch, we only ordered 2 first courses. Good and quality. Service a little slow....we waited quite a long time considering that the place was practically empty. Maybe outside they were busy with aperitifs but in the internal room there were 2 tables.

Il Frantoio is a historic venue in Capalbio, a meeting point for an aperitif, cultural activities, also a bookshop and ecological boutique. The environment is pleasant and the atmosphere friendly. Then there is the restaurant: elegant, original and with a beautiful fireplace in winter and a beautiful terrace in summer. The food is very good and there is a good wine list. Prices a little high but worth it.

A wonderful location, with attention to the smallest details. A place where art, cuisine, books, modern antiques and tradition meet, creating a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. The cuisine is satisfactory but the prices are decidedly high, especially for some of the menu items, such as desserts and starters.

An excellent place to have aperitifs or after dinner. Also very active for artistic events, such as photography exhibitions, paintings, conferences etc

THE BEATING HEART OF CAPALBIO CHIC "Il Frantoio" is an ancient oil mill transformed into a bar restaurant with adjoining bookshop and "boutique", as well as an art gallery on the upper floor. It is a rather expensive place of excellence, which attracts both the inhabitants of Capalbio and tourists, who want to be initiated into the secrets of the Grosseto Maremma. The same goes for young people, who sit on the wall in front late in the evening to smoke and exchange "joints". The interior is dominated by the very long bar counter on the left, while on the right there is a small bookshop offering well-selected texts, in front of the "boutique". In front of the counter there are a few tables for catering, but the large restaurant room is located at the back. The great art critic Phippe Daverio was one of the frequenters of this large and eclectic venue, which also has an outdoor terrace facing the Church of Providence. It was also one of the destinations, in his youth, of the raids of the legendary Giuliano Simonelli, nicknamed "Diluvio", who drove his "Land Rover" around the Maremma with blocks of hashish, tolerated by the Carabinieri. At the time I attended it, as well as with my family, with my poor Buddhist friend Francesca Sartini, who died prematurely.

Se vai a Capalbio non puoi non passare dal Frantoio dato che tutto il movimento serale della zona avviene in questo posto dall'esterno fiabesco e dentro quasi da taverna per la musica e la condizione generale di servizio ma che gli vuoi dì? e ci ritorni anche la prossima volta

Buoni gli antipasti con i fegatini di pollo, così come anche la carne sulla piastra con un contorno di croccanti patate. Per dolce un delizioso tortino caldo di cioccolato.
