Il Buco In Sorrento

Deserves its Michelin Star!! Order family style to taste the culinary excellence.

Made a reservation for a Sunday night, and had an incredible time. The outside seating is tiered, with sectioned private tables nestled in beautiful greenery. Since it was so hot during our stay in Sorrento, we opted to sit inside. We were guided down a flight of stairs, which led to an elegant dining area that was once the 16th century wine cellar for a former monastery. There is also another flight of stairs that lead up to more seating, and the wine cellar. Once seated, we were handed the wine menu, which listed countless choices. Admitting we were in over our heads, a Sommelier, Geppino, was sent to our table. He was wonderful! Warm, friendly, helpful and extremely passionate about his role. He suggested a 2020 Chianti we thoroughly enjoyed, and which paired well with everything we ate. We were so taken with his hospitality and energy, that we took two bottles of wine home with us! My husband ordered the Raviolo for his first course, and the Beef for his second. I chose to hand my selections over to the chef, ordering the "In Our Hands" portion of the Scent of the Land. Everything that came out, was beyond fabulous. Even my husband, who is not a foodie, gave high praise. There was artistry in every presentation. Proteins were melt in your mouth tender and enveloped in savory sauces and tender pasta. Natural fats were beautifully balanced with subtle bits of acidity that left your palette satisfied yet craving for more. You could taste culinary expertise in every bite, with each plate being perfectly portioned. With each serving, it was obvious how much care the kitchen put into each dish. Service was on point, with staff constantly circling the restaurant, watching to see if anything was needed. They were friendly and engaging, and made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Il Buco served up some of the best food we have ever had. True craftmanship from beginning to end.

Best meal we've had in Sorrento. Lamb, pasta and seafood were all delicious and presented wonderfully. Great wine list and imaginative cocktails. The service was excellent - attentive and professional. Don't miss this place!

Just one word: incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. From start to finish, not a single flaw. It was extremely good. The setting is magnificent. A must-visit in Sorrento. I can only give it 5 stars. Reservations are essential.

An unforgettable night. Every stereotype you hold about a Michelin star restaurant is what Il Buco is. Amazing food, attentive staff, an experience. I am incredibly happy to have visited Il Buco... Even going as far as forcing more courses down my throat because I didn't want to leave Sorrento regretting not trying the things that took my fancy, on the menu! Please visit, you won't regret it.

Taste of Sea tasting menu was amazing, Giapino provided a great wine tasting as well! Will definitely be back

Well deserved Michelin star. Excellent service either you are going for a tasting menu or A La Carte. You will got the same attention.

One of the best upscale restaurants we've been to, as most aren't worth the price. This was the exception. One of the most delicious meals of my life. They greet you with truly incredible gourmet appetizers. We ordered lamb chops and beef cheek in a Barolo wine reduction. The flavor of the cheek really reminded me of the extraordinary taste of my favorite beef cheek tacos from the street in Mexico, as the reduction was so well-balanced that it didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. For dessert, a very good panna cotta, and they said goodbye with a small glass of the house limoncello. Our table also had a view of the bridge overlooking the sea. The service was incredible.
