A truly excellent restaurant that's well worth a visit for anyone wanting to experience the rich culinary traditions of Emilia at the highest level and at absolutely fair prices.
We came here on the recommendation of chef Pamela from Osteria La Lanterna on Lake Lugano and are very happy to have discovered these two excellent and unique restaurants.
The owners, Cristina (head chef) and Lucca (manager), welcomed us so warmly that we felt like family, or at least old friends.
The wine cellar, which was kindly shown to us before we sat down to eat, already demonstrated the love and respect for culinary arts that goes into their work. Besides a great selection of regional wines, you can sample wines from most of Italy's wine regions, and if that's not enough, there's also a selection of French wines and Champagnes.
However, we would recommend trying their own Lambrusco, which can be served in the traditional way in ceramic bowls.
For dinner, we opted for the tasting menu, which left nothing to be desired.
The antipasti with homemade salami and other cured meats, as well as the fried polenta with melt-in-the-mouth Gorgonzola and Lardo, were divine.
The homemade mezze maniche in brodo was the best interpretation of filled pasta in broth I've ever tasted, and you get a huge potful of it. So come hungry!
For the main course, we enjoyed tenderly cooked pork cheeks with seasonal mushrooms, and the absolutely essential accompaniment was the red onions softened in balsamic vinegar.
To finish, we had either Zuppa Inglese or homemade ice cream and an espresso.
We were glad we still fit in the car after this generous meal.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Osteria di Fornio for giving us a wonderful and unforgettable evening.
A big thank you also goes to Cristina's nephew, whose name we're ashamed to forget, who guided us through the entire meal in English with his extensive knowledge, wonderful anecdotes, and a good dose of humor.
We couldn't have asked for better service.
So, if you've read this far and are planning a visit to the region, we highly recommend visiting this fantastic osteria and its warm and welcoming team.

Lunch at Osteria di Fornio
A place where you immediately sense attention to detail, elegance without excess, and a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere.
The ambiance is exquisite, impeccably clean, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and very professional. They make you feel welcomed naturally, without being forced.
The cuisine was truly delightful:
the cured meats were simply divine, of the highest quality, served with great care. The selection of dishes was also excellent, and the pairing with the Franciacorta rosé was very interesting.
I also greatly appreciated the lightness of the preparations and the overall balance of the food.
You can tell when a restaurant has genuine customer care and a genuine passion for the restaurant.
A wonderful experience. I will gladly return.

A charming osteria with an authentic flavor. The menu draws on local tradition, accompanied by a good selection of wines. Some dishes are truly delicious and well-executed, while others leave much to be desired, with rather bland flavors.
Overall, the experience is positive, although it lacks that distinctive element that would make it truly memorable. The prices are high, in line with the refined atmosphere of a restaurant rather than an osteria.
