Fantastic location, quiet location. Part of a small village in the Sienese hills where time seems to return to less turbulent times. Rooms aren't overly spacious but offer every comfort. A good bed for resting and rejuvenating. The bathroom is a decent size, but the shower is a bit small. Decent WiFi; the ground-floor rooms have limited reception, but it's perfect in all common areas. The restaurant is in a stunning location; truly delicious food, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The panoramic terrace is perfect for reading, enjoying a nice aperitif, and enjoying the view in complete tranquility. I recommend staying a few days.

A hotel in an 800-year-old building. Convenient for visiting Siena and the surrounding area. The restaurant is top-notch. The staff is courteous and helpful, both at the reception and in the restaurant. Hotel and restaurant prices are reasonable. I recommend it.

I was cycling along the Via Francigena, and after a small detour, I stayed at this property. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the room wasn't overly spacious but was clean and welcoming, and the breakfast was excellent. The only downside was two gentlemen, clearly from Campania, who stopped at my room door at 7:30 in the morning, waiting for the rest of their group so they could all go to breakfast together. With their typical slow speech and unmistakable dialect accent, between "in copp'e cazz" and "sfaccimme" (a word for "fuck off"), they were a pain in the ass for at least ten minutes... but that doesn't take any points away from the hotel, which unfortunately can't do anything about it.

Nestled in the ancient village of Lucignano d'Arba, this beautiful and well-maintained property offers ample parking right in front of the hotel. The breakfast is plentiful, and the restaurant serves excellent meat dishes. The meat dishes are worth trying, along with homemade desserts. Just a few kilometers from Siena, it's an excellent base for exploring nearby destinations.

We've been cycling for two weeks now. Best accommodation so far (also in terms of value for money). Absolutely friendly, great food. Beautiful view/sunset from the terrace. The vaulted cellar (dinner) was also fantastic!

La Mencia Piz.

10/05/2026: One of the best terraces of our holiday in Tuscany.
28/04/2026: Authentic flavors and a well-deserved wait at La Mencia If you find yourself in Asciano looking for a slice of authentic Tuscany, La Mencia is a stop that is absolutely worth your time. My experience today was a perfect balance between a charming setting and a treat for the palate. The restaurant itself is a beautiful place, cozy and well-kept, immediately conveying that sense of hospitality typical of the Crete Senesi villages. The atmosphere is relaxed, ideal for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy a moment of tranquility in a very pleasant aesthetic context. The undisputed highlight is the great food. It is clear that every dish is not the result of industrial or pre-heated preparation, but of a kitchen that prioritizes freshness. Everything is made to order, and the quality of the raw materials shines through in every bite. The flavors are bold, genuine, and respectful of local tradition—a real delight for those who appreciate cooking done the old-fashioned way. If I had to make one small note, it would be regarding the timing: the service was a little slow, even though there weren't many people in the dining room. However, to be fair, this is often the price you pay for food that is prepared "espresso." When you choose to eat dishes cooked from scratch rather than something ready in two minutes, you have to expect a slightly longer wait than average. In conclusion, if you are not in a rush and are looking for quality that stands out from the crowd, La Mencia will definitely win you over. Your patience is amply rewarded by excellent dishes in a splendid setting. Recommended!
