Grandma Bistrot In Roma

This tavern is the exact opposite of what the name would suggest. A hip and lively place with electronic music in the background. We were the only tourists and there was no menu in English. The food was delicious, yet only half of the dishes were local or even Italian. Prices were on the high side.

Really very nice place, both special and simple dishes excellent. The plate of pasta all'arrabbiata was delicious and plentiful! Possibility to eat vegan dishes or ask for a vegan version for some of these! Price slightly higher than a typical "tavern". I will happily return!

Very pleasant evening accompanied by a good bottle of Cesanese and many delicacies to share. Super good fried dumplings, one leads to another and in an instant the bowl is empty, excellent falafel and above all the burik "bewitched" my heart and soul. palate🤩.If you add to this beautiful smiles and the desire to share...the evening is done!Special thanks to Diana🙏

Delightful little place in the heart of the old Quadraro, which for this reason alone would be enough to make you love it for the rich and lively history of the neighborhood. One of those restaurants that win you over as soon as you enter, with the original recovered floors, the mismatched furnishings that recall old taverns, the quiet atmosphere that puts you at ease. The menu is varied and extremely interesting, not very long (which in my opinion is always a plus because it enhances a few preparations but made with care). The proposal is between traditional Roman dishes slightly revisited and dishes "stolen" from traditional Levantine, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. The proposals satisfy everyone: omnivores, vegetarians and vegans and this is also always worthy of merit. Dishes tasted yesterday and highly recommended: burik (triangles stuffed with spiced spinach and potatoes with parsley sauce), kibbeh (bulgur croquettes stuffed with a spiced ragù and pine nuts), pasta and beans, Roman-style gnocchi and milk and water pudding roses covered in dried fruit. Even our friends, who follow a vegetarian diet, were happy and satisfied with all their choices, especially the desserts. Excellent wine list. Highly recommended and we will certainly find the opportunity to return.

Beware of the staff!!! I have been to this place more than once and I have nothing to say about the food which I like and always find excellent... yesterday however my experience was ruined by a service that was nothing short of disastrous. We ordered 2 appetizers from the menu plus a third appetizer which, although it was on the list of main courses, according to the waitress, due to the size of the dish, it could have been fine as an appetizer (vegetable pancakes not on the menu). We received two appetizers and a vegetable pie that we never ordered. (sent back) the pancakes did not arrive as a starter but as a second course... and this brought about a second problem... we had ordered sheep's skewers and beef belly (the latter not on the menu) but the belly was never arrived... we finished skewers and pancakes and we were asked if we wanted a dessert... they had forgotten the beef belly... (we said that if it wasn't already being prepared they shouldn't have brought it)... we order the desserts... thank goodness I remembered reading baklava on the menu which if it was for the waitress we wouldn't have taken (she hadn't mentioned it among the desserts available)... when we got the bill we had to retrace all the steps at the checkout because the beef belly and the pie appeared and there were no pancakes (the waitress didn't even apologize and even seemed a little upset about the matter)... in short, I left the restaurant on the one hand satisfied with the food, which I repeat it is very good, but on the other hand very disappointed and angry with the service. A real shame... choose the dining room staff better....

A very welcoming place. A little noisy. The food for me was excellent, the desserts perhaps not up to the rest, however. Great environment, I would happily return.

Abbiamo fatto una passeggiata per il quadraro e ci siamo fermati in questo bistrot. Il posto è arredato con grande gusto in un locale eclettico. Il cibo buonissimo. Consigliamo le zucchine e la misticanza ripassata. Abbiamo seguito il consiglio e ordinato una buonissima carbonara con il manzo. La ragazza che ci ha servito è stata molto gentile, disponibile e ci ha dato i giusti consigli. Consigliatissimo

Bel pranzo domenicale. Ambiente semplice e molto accogliente. Ottima cucina. Era la seconda volta per me, ci tornerò.
