Don Lisander In Milano

I had the whole orata the other day for lunch. Top notch quality restaurant. The meal was memorable.

Excellent food and service. I wasn't impressed with the atmosphere.

An old Milanese restaurant in the heart of the city, famous for its traditional Lombard dishes, which are disappearing, at least in Milan, now prey to a myriad of fusion cuisines. The risotto with ossobuco, wonderfully creamy, is unmissable. I also had an excellent artichoke alla giudia with castelmagno sauce. Prices are accordingly.

This was hands down the best veal Milanese we’ve ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and flavorful inside- truly flawless. Every dish we tried felt like it couldn’t have been done any better. The flavors were rich without being too heavy, and you could really taste the quality in the ingredients. The ossobuco was just as memorable ( melt-in-your-mouth) beautifully cooked, and deeply comforting in that classic, traditional Italian way. The service was incredible! An all-around exceptional dining experience and we would recommend this to anyone visiting Milan

💙💙💙 OMG!!!! Delightful. Food is exceptional and worth the price. Their wine list goes from $40 and up, with all wines being of exceptional quality. Because it not “near” the Duomo, they are not “price gouging” their customers. I will be eating here EVERY YEAR I visit Milano. 💙💙💙

My overall rating concerns the outdoor seating area, which, with its hot grills and plastic-coated covering to keep the heat in, wasn't my favorite. The same space, in warmer weather, would probably be better. There were no complaints about the service or food.

The food was excellent and truly authentic Milanese cuisine - that was the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. We felt that service may have differed because we were not locals nor spoke italian: wine pours were noticeably minimal, and a sauce that normally accompanies our appetizer was forgotten and no effort to apologize when we pointed that out. Additionally, when we ordered one appetizer and were asked if we were splitting, it was plated on two dishes and charged at a higher price (€32 instead of the listed €24.50) without this being clearly explained beforehand. The per-person cover charge was also quite high. Overall, the kitchen is outstanding, but greater transparency and consistency in service would significantly improve the experience. Which is a shame because we can tell a lot of care was put into this restaurant and we really wanted to add it to our list of restaurants we visit on our annual trip to Milan, but the service makes it very hard to come back.

Great food and wonderful hospitality

Warm and genuine restaurant in the heart of Milan. Juicy cotoletta alla milanese while I would have expected something more from ossobuco with risotto: fine but the meat could have been more tender. Overall a place to visit when in the center of Milan.
