Excellent in every way. Typical Apulian food. Excellent value for money. The owner, Mr. Pio, is a pleasant and kind person. We've been coming for 25 years. An unmissable stop in San Giovanni Rotondo.

Found online, the trattoria boasts (perhaps in another life) numerous Tripadvisor awards and reviews that are nothing short of lavish. In my humble opinion, I have over 6 million views of my work, but the only truly beautiful thing is the cave in which it's located and the atmosphere it creates. The peasant menu offered is wonderful but poorly cooked: raw trofie, ditto tomatoes, sausage (just looking at it), and caciocavallo cheese that wasn't there. I don't want to continue with the orecchiette; I'll move on to the cheese plate for the appetizer: mozzarella from a few days ago, which fell apart in the mouth, double ricotta with flavor... well, let's leave it at that and say that Mr. Pio also boasted about using buffalo mozzarella, but perhaps he's really telling a lot... about buffalo mozzarella. Industrial salami (a thin slice in half), like the cheese with chili pepper, seemed like a low-quality canestrato. The fava beans with chicory were good. And yet I didn't say I wanted to save money. In fact, two starters, a cheese plate, and a bottle of water came to 44 euros! I'm sorry, my dear, maybe you were better before, and please change the chef, if that's what you call him.

A friend recommended it to me some time ago...after a long time I finally went there today for lunch, well definitely everything good, plentiful, served with cordiality and friendliness, staff attentive to every need...I hope to be able to return. And obviously I recommend it to everyone. Excellent wine and herb liqueur, a real surprise the Sicilian cannoli

Trattoria with typical Apulian products ..... good and abundant food. Excellent also the house wine and their very good herb bitter. Friendly and very nice staff. To return without a shadow of a doubt.

Di tanto in tanto con la mia famiglia veniamo a san Giovanni Rotondo per devozione. Oggi, abbiamo fatto una piacevole scoperta: la trattoria Chiazza Ranna. Abbiamo assaggiato gli antipasti della vera tradizione pugliese, mi riferisco alle fave e cicoria servite con pane bruschettato, al pan cotto con verdure e patate, alla trippa con ceci, frittelle di baccalà e altro ancora. Anche i primi piatti, abbondanti nelle porzioni, sono stati eccellenti. I prezzi sono onestissimi ed il tutto è condito con la simpatia di Pio (in gioventù, chierichetto di San Pio), che ci ha fatto sentire a casa e delle sue supersimpaticissime figlie Annarita e Rosalba (vittime consapevoli del padre burlone) e di Sara, esterna alla famiglia, che ogni giorno assiste a queste partite tra padre e figlie.. nello stesso giorno abbiamo fatto pranzo e cena perché ci siamo sentiti a casa. Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti coloro che vogliono assaggiare la cucina tradizionale, in una piccola location ma deliziosa!
