Good quality food, great location, cool atmosphere
Chez Black in Positano is such a classic seaside dining experience and absolutely lives up to the charm of its location. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, right along the water, with that effortless Positano energy that makes you want to linger over every course.
The food was fresh and well-prepared, especially the seafood and pasta dishes, which felt simple in the best way—letting the ingredients speak for themselves. Portions were generous, and everything came out beautifully timed even with how busy it was.
Service was friendly and fast-paced, which matches the setting, and the whole experience felt fun, relaxed, and memorable. It’s the kind of place that captures the spirit of Positano dining perfectly.

Tried Chez Black after our tour guide recommended it. I have Celiac and need to eat gluten free. They don’t have many gluten free options but they had the best gnocchi I’ve ever had! They also served me some pre-packaged gluten free bread. I was very happy with my meal. My husband, who does not have any dietary restrictions, enjoyed his meal. The service was fast which was great since we only had an hour and half in town before getting back to our tour bus. Not sure if it was the language barrier but the servers didn’t seem too friendly. Atmosphere was relaxed and nice. It’s located right next to the beach.

The food wasn't as good as other places in Rome. I had back squid ink pasta and it was OK. The limencello spritzers are good and view is amazing.

I visited the cafe in the morning.
It's very cute. It seems to get crowded in the evening.
The coffee is average. You pay for the view ☺️

We had passed by this restaurant which was right by our hotel, and dined at a couple of other restaurants. When we had dinner at ChezBlack, it was truly the best meal we have had, in Positano. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs, which she declared were excellent. I had the lasagna, which was I believe some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was superior and the atmosphere by the beach with children in Halloween costume was very Vibrante. I would highly recommend this to any travelers to Positano. I also had the distinct pleasure of being introduced to and visiting with Signore Black by Roman, the Maître d', a wonderful host. A wonderful dining experience.

Food was very good , service from fransceco & hayat also fantastic.. However the Host nidda attitude was not welcoming and extremely dry which rewinds our night and we were about to leave the restaurant .
