We dined at Ottava Rima and were truly thrilled. The restaurant is located in the heart of the charming medieval village of Sorano, and even strolling through the narrow streets gives you a unique atmosphere.
The restaurant offers traditional local dishes prepared with local ingredients and a lot of passion. We tried the pepato, a traditional local stew, truly flavorful and tender. The dolmades, revisited with a Maremma twist, were also excellent, an original dish that combines tradition and creativity. To finish, we chose some homemade desserts, all delicious and carefully prepared.
The manager is extremely friendly and helpful, conveying all his love for his homeland and Maremma cuisine.
An added bonus is the restaurant's charming ancient cellar, adorned with antique amphorae and period objects that recall the area's Etruscan history and make the atmosphere even more charming.
The prices are more than fair considering the excellent quality of the ingredients, the sophistication of the dishes, and the overall experience.
If you're passing through Sorano, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit: it's not just a place to eat well, but a place to savor true Maremma tradition in an atmosphere steeped in history. Kudos to the manager.

A one-of-a-kind wine bar carved into the tuff rock in the historic center of Sorano. The menu features unique yet exceptional dishes. The owner, Nicola, is extremely knowledgeable and happy to offer suggestions on wine and beer pairings. Special mention goes to the panzanella. Highly recommended.

Definitely unconventional. The menu is determined by the raw ingredients found. The wine list is excellent.

I appreciated the refined menu, unique and faithful to local traditions. The tortelli were excellent, made with an authentic local recipe and carefully selected wild herbs. The selection of meats and wines was also excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming and meticulously maintained, with a touch of the past, thanks to the location inside a centuries-old cellar carved into the tuff rock.

Rima Restaurant is a special place. Located in a cave with excavations and sculptures at the end. We spent a wonderful evening there. Nicola, the owner, served us with dedication and enthusiasm. We ate a selection of starters, all of which were delicious. The beef tartare on a bed of tomatoes was exceptional. As well as the dish of the day, which was tortellini and gnocchi, both in a wonderful tomato sauce.
