This place has a soul. Older soul that was carefully renovated into a coffee place with a bookshop. At the same time cozy and refined. Service was fast, precise and food was great. Amazing espresso. Must visit when in Trieste

Beautiful historic cafe with a unique atmosphere of old Trieste. Amazing interior in Art Nouveau style, excellent Illy coffee and great desserts. Ideal place for a moment of peace or sitting with a book. Sometimes it is a bit crowded and the service can be slower, but overall it is definitely worth a visit.

Entering Caffè San Marco is like crossing a threshold in time. The atmosphere smells of history, books, and freshly ground coffee. Among the stucco and Art Nouveau columns, you can almost hear the voices of writers and intellectuals who have met here for over a century. It's one of those places you don't just visit: you experience it. The friendly staff, the exquisite cakes, and the aroma of coffee make the experience complete. A small Trieste temple where the past continues to breathe in the present. Highly recommended!

I came in for a coffee and a doodle. The coffee shop and bookstore were incredible. A must stop for cake and coffee.

A splendid, period café, definitely worth a visit. Long waits for two coffees with three waiters in the dining room, one of whom (Andrea) only noticed us after 20 minutes, despite there being only about fifteen people in the café, who had already been served. A woman who entered before us, after waiting 25 minutes to be served/noticed, left the café without ordering. Checking the number of people entering, it's clear that the wait is standard practice. If you have the patience to wait, the coffee is excellent!
