Caffè San Marco In Trieste

A place where history comes alive. And that doesn't just mean Trieste's famous, very old coffeehouse tradition. Founded in 1914, the café had to close a year later because supporters of the Danube Monarchy had partially destroyed its interior. The reason may have been that their opponents, who wanted to end Habsburg rule, met here. The foliage on the ceiling was originally painted in the national colors of Italy. So you sit in this venerable café, enjoy the wonderful coffee (Triestans traditionally have their own concoctions) and the exquisite cakes, and take part in a journey through time. In order to preserve the café with its spacious rooms, it was restructured under its new owner, a Greek: Part of it serves as a bookstore, part as a restaurant, and part as a coffeehouse. This was all done very carefully and helped preserve everything down to the last detail. In my opinion, Caffè San Marco is a must-visit for visitors to Trieste.

Nice interior, very kind service but you expect a bit too much, a great variety of different coffees

It's a beautiful and historic café in the city of Trieste. I highly recommend it, and ordering a Capo in B coffee, which can only be had in Trieste.

A very atmospheric place, although it is now a typical tourist place, it has a beautiful interior and good coffee, it is worth trying the sweets

We chose delicious coffee and tiramisu. The pistachio tiramisu is an inspiration to try at home. The friendly staff were happy to take a nice picture of us.

I’ve ordered a cappuccino with a cheesecake. It is not specialty coffee, so do not expect the coffee to be high quality. Anyway it was nice to visit because of the atmosphere.

Locale storico di Trieste, intriso di storia. Locale meraviglioso, servizio così così. Pranzo tra amici, rapporto qualità prezzo non adeguato.

Quattro stelle e non cinque solo perché il personale è decisamente musone e diciamo che un sorriso di cortesia, soprattutto quando un cliente attende molto pur avendo prenotato, sarebbe doveroso. A parte questo, la cucina è veramente ottima, raffinata come si confà ad un ambiente di questo livello. I dolci sono meravigliosi, i caffè variamente assortiti come la storicità di questo locale prevede. Il luogo è bellissimo, dove respiri la storia e puoi anche fare una tappa in libreria
