A true Triestine treat that lets you truly experience traditional local cuisine. The Imperial Platter for Two is truly sublime, and I recommend it to couples. Tongue, cotechino, prosciutto, and many other delicacies! Of course, they also offer an excellent sandwich with hand-sliced prosciutto and a drizzle of horseradish!

We had lunch at Buffet Gildo today and were thrilled! The place, packed and lively, immediately won us over with its authentic atmosphere. Delicious food, a wide selection, friendly service, and excellent prices: a perfect mix that makes it one of our favorite places in Trieste.
We can't wait to return with our family, who are coming from the South, to share a true and delicious slice of Trieste tradition with them. An unmissable stop, both for those visiting the city and for those looking for a delicious lunch break that feels like home and tradition.

Restaurant where I guess people from the area usually go with very fast service
If you want to go quietly you have to go after two as most people go back to work
They make typical homemade food that I would have liked to try any dish to taste it
The place doesn't have many pretensions but is super correct.
It's not very touristy.

Great value local dishes, including some very surprising ones with sauerkraut for example in an authentic ambience. Staff are friendly explain everything well in English. Great for a quick lunch.
