Looking for a traditional restaurant in Trieste, we tried Buffet da Gildo. A very positive experience: informal and authentic atmosphere, quick and friendly service. The traditional dishes were excellent, especially the bollito misto, truly flavorful and well-prepared. Recommended for anyone who wants to sample the most authentic Trieste cuisine.

I had a great time: the quality, the kindness, the lady who makes the sandwiches and the young lady at the cash register. There's always a corner where you can grab a hand-cooked or boiler-baked sandwich, and the red wine on tap is also good. In short, a place where they know how to work well, well-stocked, and with quality food at fair prices for the masses. They make tons of other food, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. A porcina sandwich and a glass of red wine for €7, not bad...

08/02/2026: We dined at this restaurant somewhat by chance. The atmosphere is lovely. We ordered a porcini mushroom tartare as an appetizer, which was truly delicious. The stuffed ravioli were beautiful to look at and, above all, delicious. The sliced ​​steak was decent. The dessert, on the other hand, was super refined. The owner was very welcoming, friendly, and kind, and recommended an excellent wine. The table service was impeccable. Prices were average.
