Very beautiful place!
Food was a four..local cuisine and a large selection of wines
Service was a two-plus. Waiters rarely came to the far hall. Dishes took a long time to be brought out. And dirty plates stood on the table until the next dish was served. The gentleman who offered a selection of wines..looked very arrogantly (although the wine we took was not cheap).

Amazing experience in a great setting, indeed a Michelin guide! Not only that the food was delicious but Domenico, our host, surprised us with his recommendations. We went for an “omakase” desert and surrendering to Chef Vincenzo Paulicelli was worthwhile. Both the pastry and the bread were truly amazing! Grazie mille, we will return next year to Matera especially for you!

An unforgettable experience in Matera!
Baccanti was a true revelation. Nestled in a charming stone-vaulted room, the place perfectly blends elegance, tradition, and refinement. From the moment you arrive, the service is impeccable: discreet, warm, attentive, without ever overdoing it.
The food is absolutely flawless. The homemade gnocchi with burrata cream and anchovies were a masterpiece of balance between sweetness and character.
A true favorite for lovers of authentic Italian cuisine, enhanced with modernity. You leave captivated, with a smile on your face... and a burning desire to return. That's the Italy we love: local cuisine revisited with respect and boldness.

One of the best dining experiences we have had. All aspects 5 star. Food, innovative, delicate, delicious, outstanding. Ambience/atmosphere, perfect. Wine list, exceptional. Service, perfect. We spent a lot on wine, but, one good bottle of wine and two courses for two would cost about 250 euros- worth it

This place is amazing! Not only is the restaurant located inside a cave, but the food is also fantastic. The portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for trying a variety of dishes. I personally recommend the lamb dishes. The wine selection is excellent, and the prices for both drinks and food are very reasonable. It's a good idea to make a reservation in advance for quicker and more convenient seating. The staff is excellent, and the service is incredibly fast.

Food was ok but for a “nice restaurant” not worth the price. Service was lovely. We were sat outside as the restaurant was booked out - we inquired a week prior to book and was already this way apparently. The whole dinner felt a bit drawn out. I got bitten by mosquitoes.

Had a lovely lunch and an oasis of peace and coolness in the busy warm Matera. Pricey but is in proportion to the high quality. The wine list is a study in itself, so extensive.

This restaurant deserves a Michelin star just for the environment alone if that was possible. Well combine that with wonderful food and service and that could be a possibility. I won't go through our food selections (4 couples) but needless to say we all enjoyed our various courses.

Locale fantastico all'interno della roccia sicuramente con cucina attenta ai prodotti della terra elaborati nella maniera migliore (alcuni esempi sono il flan di caciocavallo, lo spaghettone aglio e olio o il fusillone all'arrabbiata). Una nota speciale alla carne..la guancia di vitello si scioglieva letteralmente in bocca. Ampissima la scelta di vini.
Unica nota sono i prezzi molto alti rispetto alla materia prima comunque semplice.
