Excellent. We had dinner here one evening when we were just getting our bearings in Viareggio. Happened to go here with no recommendations and so happy with did. From start to finish we had a great time. Staff were chatty and very attentive, food was full of flavour and perfectly timed. Atmosphere was wonderful. The owner/chef Luca is an incredibly nice gent. When he found out we are irish he was very welcoming to us and couldnt have been more pleasant as were all the staff we dealt with. Will happily return when back in Viareggio.

I was torn between an interesting menu and the poorly maintained outdoor tables and somewhat shabby atmosphere. While the interior is very beautiful and quaint, I preferred to sit outside given the nice weather.
The service is typical of an old-fashioned trattoria... the kind of service you'd get from a mother who doesn't want to overindulge because she has her own thoughts and knows you'll be fine. But I have to admit, that's also its beauty... it's not overly fussy, focusing more on substance than form. The foreigner, however, was very kind and friendly.
Now we get to the most interesting part... the "coccetto di ragù con polenta" was fantastic, unsurpassed in taste and presentation!
Next came the delicious tortelli al ragù, cooked to perfection.
Generous portions, just what gourmets like, accompanied by an equally generous glass of wine.
I can't review the fish menu because I don't eat fish.
With a more refined and modernized outdoor seating area, without abandoning the old-fashioned style, it would deserve 6 stars!

I ate there this evening, and did not think the experience lived up to the glowing reviews I read on their site. The food was adequate but by no means exceptional. I had the veal cutlet, which was fine. The grilled vegetables were over done and a relatively small serving for the price. The lemon sorbet I ordered for dessert came as a liquid in a small glass with a straw; something I've never seen in Italy. The servers were efficient and pleasant, though the bag of bread that is routinely given as part of the coperto was totally omitted from my table. While not a bad meal, I would not dine there again.

While visiting Viareggio with my wife, we had the pleasure of lunch at this splendid inn, and we stopped in twice.
We tried the inn's antipasto (five courses), and for our first courses, the paccheri with scampi and the spaghetti alla carbonara with seafood. To finish, the excellent house cake.
The food is truly excellent, with generous and beautifully presented dishes. The restaurant has a very welcoming, homey feel, and the service is prompt. All the staff were extremely friendly.
We will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Sunday lunch with a reservation. I'd been there years before and remembered the fish dishes being better quality. The appetizer was inedible tuna, and the tagliatelle verdi were good, but the sauce was too runny. The atmosphere was quiet, and the service was adequate. Prices were average for fish dishes in Viareggio.

Well, very well. A pleasant evening at the ancient Locanda d'Luca, very close to the Viareggio seafront. Impeccable service, a perfect welcome, and above all, a delicious seafood dinner. The six of us opted for the €35.00 fixed menu per person, which included various appetizers, two first courses, a mouth-watering mixed fried fish, water, wine, and finally dessert, coffee, and a liqueur offered by the charming owner. Highly recommended.
