Aldo's at Cordella Winery In Montalcino

My husband and I were fortunate to arrange a last minute wine tasting which turned out to be a highlight during our trip to Italy. Aldo and staff took such great care of us and the wine and food were exquisite. I cannot wait to receive the wine that we ordered, it was phenomenal.

We came for the day to do a tasting and did not stay the night. Aldo, our host and one of the owners of this family run winery, was incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. The tour of the modern and clean wine cellar was enlightening. But the true highlight was the wine, which they clearly put a lot of heart and soul into. By the winemaker’s choice, their reds are aged in French oak for more years that what is required and this imparts some delightful and complex notes to the already amazing Sangiovese grapes. Their Rosso and Brunello are unmatched, in our experience. I feel they are small and growing and now is the time to discover them, before they blow up. We had a glass of their brunello in Rome and had to find them at their vineyard in Tuscany. We’ve been to later, more popular (and more expensive) wineries and these guys still are our favorite. The food that accompanied the wine was exquisite and made from wholly local good, many harvested right on property. I cannot speak to the rooms, but when we return to Tuscany, we plan to find out and have the full experience. I cannot say enough good about Cordella.

The location alone is worth the trip!!! We stayed in this renovated farmhouse for two nights. The rooms are very spacious and charming, with antique furniture and a four-poster bed. We also booked a tasting dinner consisting of appetizers (Tuscan cured meats, Pienza ricotta tart, zucchini with ricotta and Brunello reduction, Chianina beef tartare), a first course (cannelloni with minced Chianina beef), a sampling of pici with mushrooms, and a dessert, all accompanied by the excellent wines from the cellar. I personally find the Brunello delicious. The price of the room obviously depends on the season (we stayed at the end of April, so it was very affordable). The price of the tasting seemed a bit excessive, even though the dishes were very good and beautifully presented.

Food and wine was amazing! Aldo was cooking a wild boar stew for 6 hours when when we arrived and it smelled soo good. It was a hearty welcome. He also gave us a glass of wine upon arrival. Though there's no reception, the arrival instructions were clear. Aldo is a great owner and does alot of the work himself. From being in the fields to greeting guests and cooking a great meals. He does it all. We felt well taken care off. Oh but do note the use of the kitchen is not included in your booking. There's no cutlery or anything. If you need anything just ask Aldo. He will provide anything upon request.

If you like peace and serenity in your vacation, I highly recommend staying at Cordella wine resort, our accommodation was excellent and Aldo is a great host. His meals and wines were exquisite. We will be back!!

The accommodation was nice, you just have to expect a longer journey to the accommodation (I knew that in advance). Just nature around you.

Cordella in Montalcino is a great place to stay and also to discover a beautiful Brunello wine. We were very well received by Aldo, who, in addition to being a great professional, was also very kind and attentive. We met his family during dinner, and his wife was also very attentive to us! We chose to have dinner at the hotel, and the service was very good, in addition to the delicious dishes prepared on site. The accommodation is very cozy, spacious and clean, providing a great experience during the stay. We would definitely stay at Cordella in Montalcino Wine Resort again.

We booked two nights at the resort, with super-spacious rooms, carefully furnished with period furniture yet perfectly efficient. Aldo provided a professional welcome at the tables of a rustic restaurant with elegant furnishings and tablecloths. Plates, porcelain, and crystal glasses were provided for the high-quality wines produced on the adjacent property, and a guided tour of the cellar is available. Places like the Cordella wine resort are truly rare, unique, and unconventional. Only for connoisseurs. Personalized service is available at the restaurant, even in low season. The key is to understand that you are staying in a property with just a few units, and communication with management is crucial to obtaining all the information you need to make the most of this wonderful property, tastefully constructed and managed by the people who have made the current level of service possible. I finally extended my stay to indulge in the super service of the very friendly Aldo, and we dined three out of three nights at the restaurant, where you feel pampered and at home. Top-notch ingredients, top-notch wines from the same winery!!! I've already extended my stay. If I was a little skeptical at first, I've changed my mind.!!! The key is to introduce yourself to Aldo and ask for advice!!!
