Al Prato In Varenna

This was the best meal of my life. We went to the location in Varenna on the beautiful Lake Como. From the drinks all the way to dessert, everything was incredible. Must visit if you’re in Varenna. Book through The Fork.it.

We arrived on a Saturday in high season at 12 p.m., without reservation. Right on time! An excellent welcome from start to finish, superb. A typical, seasonal cuisine skillfully mixing salty/sweet. Generous dishes. In short, a treat. Go there with your eyes closed.

The reviews don't do it justice, exquisite treatment with delicious food. We recommend the lasagna, pancioti and a duck starter. The restaurant area is very quiet ☺️

Our first trip to Al Prato was 5 years ago when traveling last minute to Varenna. We were there when they opened and got a table. I got pooped on by a bird, we all laughed. We made a reservation for the next night and had another incredible meal, even though my husband got the bird poop treatment! This time, we were in Varenna for five nights. My husband walked down, made a reservation for my birthday dinner 4 days later. We knew how it worked, it’s a small restaurant and they don’t do online reservations. Im sorry that people don’t read reviews and understand how this works. As before, the food and service were spectacular. I had a lovely lasagna, my husband had perfect lamb. I was so full from a day of too much food…but had a pineapple carpaccio dessert which was light and delicious. We’ve been to many parts of Italy in four trips. This is still one of our favorite places for a GREAT meal.
