The lamb chops were sooo good!! The bread they served was also fresh and delicious — I especially loved the green one, maybe it had pistachio in it. I’ll definitely visit this restaurant again if I come back to Varenna!

This restaurant was one of the best (if not the best) of our trip to Italy with my boyfriend. The service was quick, the staff welcoming and friendly (we were even greeted with a few words in French!), and the food... absolutely divine!! My boyfriend had the grilled T-bone steak, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the assortment of several freshly caught fish from the lake. I highly recommend it; it's well worth its 5 stars and prices (and the portions are generous). Next time we're back at Lake Como, we'll definitely be back.

Excelente cocina italiana del norte en el corazón de Varenna. Este es posiblemente el mejor restaurante en Varenna (y estaba en el top 3 de los restaurantes en nuestro viaje al norte de Italia y Suiza). Sin duda reservar temprano si quieres conseguir una mesa - observamos a varias personas que pasaron y no fueron capaces de conseguir una mesa hasta la noche siguiente (o más tarde) , pero el esfuerzo definitivamente vale la pena.

Hermoso restaurante! La comida aquí era deliciosa y un ambiente muy agradable. La presentación de la comida es de las mejores que he visto en restaurantes. Sugiero ir directamente al restaurante al comienzo de su viaje a Varenna para hacer una reserva en persona. Llegamos un jueves y envié un correo electrónico solicitando una reserva, pero no supe nada, así que fui en persona el viernes, la noche siguiente disponible era el domingo. Finalmente, el domingo recibí una respuesta a mi correo electrónico original diciendo que no había disponibilidad, por lo que sugiero ir en persona o enviarlos por correo electrónico con mucha anticipación.

11/11/2025: I attended a wedding about a fortnight ago, and the autumnal atmosphere gives this place a magical feel. Everything was meticulously curated, the service excellent, the food delicious, and they pay close attention to allergens. Highly recommended for any event.

The atmosphere, the quality of the food, the welcoming staff, and the refined flavors combine to make Il Portico an unforgettable culinary experience, difficult to explain in words, but truly worth discovering and savoring! Trying is believing! Every time I return, I'm pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the dishes offered, the quality of the food served, and the care with which Chef Dario, his family, and the staff truly welcome and pamper each customer! The interior and exterior spaces are also frequently remodeled and decorated, reflecting the seasons, creating an atmosphere of well-being that certainly goes far beyond mere refreshment! My compliments!

28/10/2025: Fantastic restaurant! Nicoletta is incredibly kind and the service is impeccable. The meat is truly amazing, and they also cater to those with allergies or special requests. The atmosphere is welcoming and the food is incredibly delicious: I'll definitely be back!
