12/05/2026: After checking reviews and websites, I went to this restaurant with its well-deserved reputation.
I spent the afternoon perusing their menu, which looked interesting, and my attention was drawn to the spider crab cicche 😍
So, around 8 pm, I arrived at the restaurant and immediately felt the local atmosphere envelop me. The decor is a mix of support for the local team and engravings and paintings depicting life in Trieste. A charmingly chaotic atmosphere and a barely electronic cash register were winning me over!
The server greeted me with a smile and genuine warmth! The decor, the friendly service, and the other customers, all locals, were already whetting my appetite!
That's it, I'm here, a local institution, everything I love!
The waiter brought me the menu, and before I even had a chance to look at it, he informed me that there was no spider crab cicche that evening…
The horror!!! What am I saying? The devastation!
Seeing the profound sadness this news had caused me, he had the intelligence and immediate professionalism to offer me the same cicche with zucchini and sea bream. Initially hesitant, I decided to give it a try.
I then opted for a fritto misto (mine had squid, sardines, and red mullet—it was excellent! From the photos on the website, I also get the impression that it changes depending on the season and the day's catch ❤️), followed by a presnitz, a local dessert, for dessert!
I don't know what to say; I was transported. The cicche (small local gnocchi) completely captivated me, and everything else was just as good! Nothing is off the mark, nothing is deceiving, it's real food.
When you eat there, you really eat!
So thank you!
And I can only recommend that you rush there when you're in Trieste!
