Too many words would be needed to describe "Il Petes."
I've been frequenting this fine dining establishment for a couple of years now. They regularly update the menu, so you always get to try something different and innovative.
Each dish is meticulously crafted and beautifully balanced; the flavors range from the most classic to the most sophisticated, and the presentation is always impeccable.
The wine list is well-stocked, with prices appropriate to the market and the location.
The service is magnificent, very professional and attentive, but with a hint of familiarity, it becomes friendly and fun.
The price, contrary to what others say, is more than reasonable for the quality of the dishes, the service, and the attention to detail.
Il Petes isn't a place, it's an experience to be had.

After the disaster at Antica Ghiacceretta earlier in the evening, we ended up here, and this place saved the day.
The food is original but not extravagant, high-quality, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, I only took a picture of the venison tartare after the first bite.
I'd especially like to highlight the wine list, which really appealed to me as a lover of sparkling wines. The sommelier gave us excellent advice; we had the perfect wine pairings for our dinner.
We'll definitely be back and try the tasting menu.

The restaurant is very large, spread across multiple areas, making for a comfortable experience. It's right in the city center. The staff—because we're talking about very young professionals—are very attentive, they put a lot of thought into their offerings, and the food is spectacular, from appetizers to dessert. For the wines, we relied on their sommelier, who made some excellent suggestions. The prices are perfectly in line with the quality of the offerings. Well done.

I chose the tasting menu, the "trust the kitchen" one where the chef selects the dishes himself, and I had no regrets. A carefully crafted, coherent sequence of courses, with a beautiful balance between Trieste tradition and contemporary technique.
Two dishes deserve special mention: the sea bass tartare with marrow and the goat cheese-filled ravioli.
But the real highlight of the evening was the service. The passionate and knowledgeable staff accompanied each course with a naturally suggested wine pairing!

This place was such a pleasant surprise. Every course was delightful and matched with the perfect wine. Special shoutout to the sommelier who made us feel so welcome and took such good care of us, he really went above and beyond. When on holidays I never go back to a place twice, because I want to explore all options. Here however, we immediately had to book another dinner and the second time around it was just as lovely.

Great experience at this restaurant listed by the Michelin guide in 2025. It's important to make a reservation and indicate any dietary restrictions. The place is surprisingly large; from the outside, it doesn't look like it has as many rooms and tables as it does. Everything is very organized and unpretentious.
The menu has excellent choices, worthy of a well-rated restaurant. Start with the shrimp and chicken donut (great!) and for the main course, go for the lamb with wine sauce. Excellent wine list. Good soundtrack.
The point of attention is the service: the sommelier was very friendly and efficient, but the waiters left a little to be desired when it came to dessert and the bill (perhaps it's the extra mile for the star). Cost-benefit ratio is in line with the good experience. It's well worth a visit.
