Tried it at lunchtime, the service was a bit odd, the food was good but nothing special... Okay, but a bit pricey...
I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a local. They seem to be very particular about their food and wine, and they explained everything in great detail. The waiter's service was incredibly warm and welcoming, and I would definitely like to return the next time I'm in Venice.

Most of Venice seems artificial, overpriced and honestly, second-rate. Al Mascaron is, refreshingly; the opposite of this trend: super nice and attentive local staff, fair prices and amazing quality food (both the ingredients and the preparation). A must!

I have eaten at Al Mascaron a few times before. Long history and the owner is right there serving wines and taking your order.
The Taglierini Scoglio was excellent and loaded with critters from the lagoon. Antipasto di Pesce showcased traditional preparations of classic Venetian appetizers. Grazie!

The pasta vongole was delicious. The pasta with sardines, pistachios, tomato, and olives was extraordinary. A very pleasant place to dine in good company. An authentic spot.

Inga and I loved the food - the epitome of simplicity, tradition, and highest quality. Al Mascarron doesn't need additional praise but it's hard to resist and not to say bravo, chef! We had lunch - fish soup and seafood pasta.
