Food was fine but not worth what they are charging, a Veg soup for €20, small bottle of water z€8 and the service was average at best …. On top of that they charge a 15% service charge, much better quality food, service and value available elsewhere in Venice.

Food was top notch. That fish inside the bread and pasta with lobster were incredible.

Dined at the courtyard tables on fish soup and grilled monkfish. Attentive service in a quiet location close to the Rialto bridge.

The food is just food. I can't say anything bad or particularly good. The service would have been fine if they hadn't tried to rip me off. The bill included a "coperto" (essentially a legal tip), and I was alone, but they charged for two, plus 15% service. After my outrage, they removed the coperto, but refused to remove the service. I wouldn't recommend it.

Ristorante Al Colombo is the kind of place you would walk right past without realizing what you’re missing — and that would be a mistake. Tucked away near St. Mark’s Square, it truly feels like a hole-in-the-wall gem off the main flow of foot traffic. My wife and I stopped in just to kill some time and planned to have a quick drink. That plan changed immediately. We decided to order the mixed cheese plate to go with our drinks, and it ended up being the best cheese plate we had during our entire time in Venice. The selection was varied, high quality, and perfectly balanced. What really surprised us was that it was served with honey, something we hadn’t encountered anywhere else in Italy on this trip and it elevated the cheeses in a way that was simple but unforgettable. Sometimes the most memorable bites come from the places you almost skip. If you’re near St. Mark’s, slow down, look for Ristorante Al Colombo, and step inside. It’s absolutely worth it.

A truly authentic place in Venice. Excellent seafood dishes, but also excellent vegetarian and vegan options. Very friendly staff, and a top-notch host.

I’m always trying to get the best out of any situation and places that I’m visiting and traveling to. Unfortunately this time, the only good thing about this restaurant was definitely the food. But, the way my family and I were treated by the staff was simply not good! At the entrance one server was asking us if we were there to eat and then the other one asked us if we had reservation. One wanted us to get in, the other one trying to get us going away. After being seated at the table one server placed the small plates on the table to enjoy some bread and olive oil and in 5 minutes the other server came and took all the plates while we were eating and brought other plates… mumbling something about not having the right ones. I asked for the wine list, and after two “don’t have that anymore” and being pushed to get “local” wine, we finally got a bottle just to put an end to the story. I’ll stop here… The food was great but the rushed and unpleasant service ended our Venice night on a sour note . Maybe, if you’re lucky not to get the dictatorial server, you might be having a good time at the restaurant! Fun fact: the owner was there too!🤔

“An Open Door Since the 18th Century” Founded in the 18th century, Ristorante Al Colombo has long been a meeting place for merchants, travelers, and locals just a few steps from Rialto Bridge. Passed down through generations, the Stanziani family has preserved its soul: traditional Venetian and Mediterranean cuisine, unchanged rhythms, and a deep respect for lagoon flavors. The iconic Risotto de Gò tells the story of Venice itself — humble ingredients, patience, and time. Being recognized as a Locale Storico d’Italia is not a title here, but a lived tradition, renewed every day. Instagram photos: @jor.escarra
