01/01/2025: I start from the assumption that it was the first time we ate in this place and unfortunately it was also the last.
As soon as we arrive, the first negative note is the parking, on the street and without a designated space. But that's okay, once we reach the external veranda room we are truly amazed by the beauty of both the room itself and the view which without a doubt is the strong point (one of the few) of this place. The interior is also very nice, clean and welcoming.
But let's talk about the food... mixed starter of 8 samples for €15 I would say rating 8 because it was all very good and despite being tastings they are the right start to a lunch. Salted babbà with butter and anchovies, really good. We take a bottle of white wine and start drinking when at a certain point while we are drinking we realize that inside both glasses there were evident cork residues, so we very calmly call the person who had opened it for us and brought it to the table (yes, I specify that the bottle was not opened at the table but brought already uncorked, because it is already something that normally should not be done) we explain the problem to him and he, already with a VERY WRONG attitude, begins to justify himself saying that it wasn't their fault (nor even his fault for opening it) and that these are things that can easily happen. Obviously we say that we agree but that we certainly couldn't drink an entire bottle of wine with pieces of cork and he, increasingly CLOSED TO DIALOGUE and evidently irritated, replies with the exact words: "I can't do anything, I can't change the bottle for you." , at most I can filter it for you” as if he was obviously doing us a huge favor.
We, totally shocked, see where he is going while remaining silent and obviously annoyed, the person in question returns to the table with two strainers to sift the wine and pour it into a decanter. Once this (absurd) operation is over, he says at the table that he will come straight away, taking the empty bottle. Two minutes and he arrives at the table starting with "here, I also rinsed the bottle" ... well yes, he had actually RINSED a €25 bottle of Gewürztraminer with water to pour it inside.
I don't usually have discussions with people who are working while we enjoy a nice relaxing Sunday, so we decided not to make it a matter of status, eat, PAY and say thank you. But in my opinion this thing was very serious, both for the act itself (I repeat ABSURD, it has never happened even in less "chic" restaurants than Esperia presents itself) and for the truly wrong attitude of the waiter or I don't know what else role he had.
The first ones, mediocre, absolutely not up to the beauty of the place itself and the impression they want to give to the place.
Deeply disappointed we left but the review was a must.
In addition to learning a trade, which first and foremost must be done in every sector, try to learn to be around people, to be kinder and less pedantic, especially if you are young and obviously not yet veterans of the sector. There is always something to learn and question. Spent €100 of which in my opinion 90 goes only to the spectacular view that they can be proud of!
13/12/2024: SORRY I considered this place one of my favorites but tonight I was deeply disappointed after having booked on Tuesday to secure a table in the window, I arrive this evening and they assign me a table not even central but behind everything and moreover close to the entrance door at least I I would be frozen!
After seeing us and putting on our coats to leave, the table in the window miraculously came out.
Thanks but also no to discrimination!
Maybe you leave the best tables to the customers, what do you say?
A piece of advice, be more humble because you are not the only location with a breathtaking view 😘
