26/08/2025: An interminable wait to take our order. After almost half an hour, the owners' daughter informed us that table service was suspended and that we should serve ourselves inside. She reiterated, in a completely rude and annoyed manner, that if we'd been in a hurry, we could have gone straight inside from the start. Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident of this kind.
23/08/2025: A terrible experience in every way - NOT RECOMMENDED. We arrived at the La Pergola Calabria bar around 6:30 in the morning. The place was practically empty: only one other table occupied besides ours. We sat in the outdoor gardens and immediately realized that they had been completely dirty from the night before: used glasses everywhere, trash on the floor, sticky tables. Disgusting. We decided to move to the front area, hoping it would be more well-kept, but what awaited us was even worse: a cold and rude welcome. A woman—who we later discovered was the owner—came out and looked out the door with a visibly annoyed tone, asking us, "What do you want?", adding that "maybe she'll have time to serve us since there's no one else there yet." She didn't even come to our table: she simply leaned out the door, answering both me and my boyfriend in an arrogant and hasty manner. We simply asked what flavors of cream they had for a croissant and what juices were available. Her response? "What do you want? Come on, hurry up. So?!" Said in a dry, annoyed, almost aggressive tone—as if we were doing her an injustice by wanting breakfast. I can understand that you have to hurry in the morning, but the bar was empty, and the two guys who usually work with her had simply left for a moment (we saw them return as we were leaving). The owner wasn't alone; there was an employee with her anyway. So: four employees for a small-town bar—large, yes, but certainly not exclusive—and receive such treatment? It's simply shocking. In the end, we took everything to go just to avoid arguments, but honestly, I would have preferred not to leave a single euro in there. And this isn't even the first bad experience: on a previous occasion, I also tried the gelato and was very disappointed. The flavors were overly sweet, almost nauseating. The strawberry, in particular, was chemically treated and frozen, with chunks of ice inside, as if it had been poorly preserved. In fact, right after that experience, I started reading the reviews... and coincidentally, I'm not the only one who noticed the rudeness of the staff. Many reported the same attitude: pissed-off responses, rude tones, zero professionalism. As if they were doing the whole world a favor by working there, without realizing that people choose to go there—and then find themselves treated poorly. Dirty environment, rude staff, poor quality. I absolutely do not recommend this place. I truly hope anyone reading this review will think twice before coming in.
